Since we're putting up rumours, I heard an interesting one this morning.

It seems that a certain grandson of Collingwood royalty isn't very happy at his current club and will be seeking a trade to Collingwood when his current contract is up at the end of 2019.

I've tried to keep rumours in separate threads with a rumour heading!

I did wonder at the time of the draft whether our plan might be to have a go at getting him after 2 years. Red Richards would be a handy running half back. If he is not happy, then maybe that can be brought forward to this year (subject to our having the trade chips available).

I doubt Faz is feeling the love based on selection.

Who could he possibly replace in our current forward set up?

Given his talent and experience, Fas should be kicking bags of 5 or 6 goals in the ressies. I've always liked him, but he does not seem to be doing enough atm to earn a spot in the ones.

Can't be (R)Ed, who, as was mentioned in his dedicated thread, signed a two-year extension earlier this year.

Don't know Weideman's status or feelings.

Weideman's contract does match the 2019 timeframe.

AFL Tonight raising the possibility of Carlton and Suns getting priority picks at the beginning of the draft, but saying unlikely. Would certainly throw a cat among the pigeons if it happened.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2018-carlton-and-gold-coast-could-receive-priority-picks-at-the-start-of-the-2018-afl-draft/news-story/89c2f17fdd342aebe944688a79529b04?nk=b17da6763eb58b50fbd8750d30efb4e7-1534496651

Subsequent Jon Ralph tweet:

AFL has clarified tonight the pre-draft priority pick is a thing of the past. Good news. Some clubs have claims on a draft pick after the first round (pick 19 onwards) but not before. Blues, Suns will apply. If the Lions win a fifth game this weekend does that count them out?

Prominent agent Craig Kelly to lead AFL junior football revolution

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/prominent-agent-craig-kelly-to-lead-afl-junior-football-revolution-20180817-p4zy1g.html

"Kelly has had three sons play in the TAC competition, with youngest son Will currently at the Oakleigh Chargers and expected to be drafted later this year. The 1990 Collingwood premiership player's pivotal role in rebuilding the junior talent pathway competition is sure to create concern among rival player agents although the AFL remains comfortable Kelly would not exploit his management role."

He's definitely not.

And frankly, we've moved past him anyway.

The kind of player we should be chasing if we want another tall forward. That's even ignoring the Collingwood connection.

He's never going to break into the Melbourne forward line unless they're dumb enough to play three tall forwards. A disappointing career so far, but if we think he has potential we should be chasing him this year.

Assuming we land Lynch, he'd hardly get a senior game with us.
