Post subject: Re-Shuffle for Big SamReply with quote

Watched the whole VFL game on Weekend before heading to Marvel Stadium.

Wow. Big Sam. Wow. 200cm and fairly agile, ( saw him evade 2 players on the wing ). Big presence constantly crashing packs ( and i mean crashing ). Very good workrate saw him covering the whole ground right to the end ( commentators made note of this several times ) Seriously Big Sam is ready.

I believe its the perfect time. A big move like this could worry opposition moving into finals.

A re-shuffle would be required. Im not liking Magdens positioning at all, and i'd like to see Mayne have a go at FB, while Mihocek moves back as well.

I know we may lose some forward pressure but what we gain may be more valuable:

FB Langdon Mayne Maynard

HB Howe Mihocek Crisp

C Aish Pendlebury Phillips

HF Thomas BigSam Hoskin

FF Degoey MasonCox Stephenson

Foll Grundy Adams Sier

Int : Steele Greenwood Varcoe Murray

Can we do that with a Final Spot on the Line?

Don't like this at all. Would risk wrecking a forward line that is functioning very well. Madgen's doing well enough in defence and is a better type than McLarty: more agile, mature and composed with ball in hand, actually gets a bit of it. Particularly against Port we don't need another tall. Creating discontinuity just for the sake of it is madness.

I disagree with you AN_Inkling

Unfortunatley Magden is a liabilty and will cost us in September

Not knocking him, but its too much to ask someone to come in and hold defense down like we are with him, its been a panic move

Premierships are not won like that

Playing the Basketballer rookie at full back is plenty brave. Changing our mind and going with another untried option a couple of weeks from finals is a bit more than brave.

Think Jacky M is a bit like the boy who fell out of the boat

He,s just not in it for mine—a miraculous recovery to fit & form from the Sack
would be soooooh good

Would love to see the combative Tyson Goldsack back Baz

I reckon he could do a job on Reiwolt if called upon, I think Mayne could be capable as well.

Mayne looking for a new spot at the moment with Aish back onthe wing

Really impressed with McLarty, I'd have no issue with him replacing Madgen who doesn't look quite up to it, yet. 2 games exposure at afl level before finals would be invaluable.

I could almost go with the idea of McClarty replacing Mihocek at CHF and him replacing Madgen down back, but when you put Mayne at full back I just have to say, whatever you're smoking, stop it.

There is a bit of Mystic about McLarty, he could geniunely be a weapon.

Its worth pulling the trigger, i'd be confident throwing him into the finals. Big Sams got mongrel. And if he gets to play a few finals that would be great for his future.

I think there is less pressure on a kid playing forward than a kid playing back with a task at hand.

And he is not slow by any means

Haha stui,

Horses for courses i guess

Maybe Langdon, Maybe Howe, Maybe Goldsack you never know

I could see Mayne doing a job on Riewolt though. One thing Mayne is, is competitive. And he is no stranger to defense ( Freo days ). Just reckon his flirting for a new role since Aish is back on the wing. So the question is for Mayne, Forward or Back?
