James Aish. I’m slowly warming to the boy.

Has sublime skills, the rest is starting to fall into place. I agree, the head clash against the Hawks was the turning point. It earned him the respect that maybe, was what was missing.

I hope he holds his spot, but if Reid comes in then he's probably the one who would make way.

He is deceptively strong over head.
As a few others have said, his tackles stick.
He is class with the footy and I beleive he is given a "role" each week.

Cant see them dropping him, esp with the eagles small and medium forwards.

I wonder on that —the Reid inclusion if it transpired ❓❓

I wonder would Stevo make way for Reid given our well stoked fwd line compared to defence

No. Stevo stays.

Aish won’t go out. The coaches know we can’t win in the air in defensive 50 but Aish, Goldie, Maynard, Crisp, Langdon and Howe are selected to bring the ball to ground more often and improve our rebound rate when the ball isn’t marked. Aish is important to that strategy because he reads the game well and uses the ball better than most under pressure and with limited space. Compare with, eg, the Melbourne players coughing up 4 goals to the Wiggles in the first quarter by hopeless handball errors.

My sense is that we wouldn’t change the backline unless there is an injury out. If Howe can’t play, we probably need another tall defender but if he’s OK to go I don’t think they’ll mess with what is working.

Aish has been a quiet achiever, he's been fantastic. There's no way we'll drop him, he's also needed for midfield rotations.

I tend to agree. We have been successful dropping an extra back and being competitive in most marking contests. That extra ( likely Greenwood ) can either block leading lanes or compete in the air as a third up.
Ryan and Rioli are both goal kickers, so we will want these match ups right or they will hurt you on the scoreboard. Maynard and Aish are best suited to these guys.
F W I W, The Eagles are very poorly ranked in ground balls, so you would think we have the advantage once it hits the deck.

If there's going to be any change tonight, he's the most likely exclusion.

However, I think he's made good progress this year and there's much upside for the years ahead.
