For a reasonable price? Grab him. At the worst, we shore up our VFL which makes our A Team stronger. At the best, we get a quality crumbing forward for Cox.

You have to at least query the merits of Lonie when a side who finished 3rd last is unwilling to offer more than a 1 year contract for him.

For pick 105 I'd do it.

I wouldn't mind him, as someone else mentioned we lack small forward depth IMO, our current bunch is great but if 1-2 went down with injuries we'd be a little thin.

All good and well to point to Jamie but he's barely able to get on the park.

Woohooh! Blair's replacement - finally!

Had a few injuries eh, well he'll feel at home at the Pies then...

Let's leave the trade talk until after we've celebrated our 16th flag win.

Ummmmm.... Jack Martin from the Suns is a better choice. Wink

He can run down and lay a tackle. He's a forward pressure player.

Seems to win a lot of frees and can sneak a goal.

I think he'd be a handy player even tho at 174 cm, he isnt a massive need right now.

Sounds like the Saints are trying to keep him, but if we can get him cheaply, it'd be a good get.

Im hearing this story has still got legs.
Saints only want to offer him a one year deal.
I guess that means we are prepared to offer him more.
His last few games of the year were exceptional for a stay at home small forward. We could do worse.

Can't see who he'd force out of our current forward line, especially if, as expected, Billy Elliott returns in good shape.

Pass.

I thought the same originally but Stephenson is a natural outside mid from his TAC days. Varcoe has one more year in him if its still his focus after his sisters passing. Im not sure what they want to do with W H E but if they prefer him up the ground, then another spot opens up in the front six.

Lonie kicked 11 . 4 in the last 5 games of the season for the Saints. Thats about a 50 goal season for a small forward in a crap team.
I will go the other way, if Elliot doesnt come up, theres definitely a spot for him and there still may be anyway.
He might sign with the Saints tomorrow but it came up in a conversation today with a bloke who is involved with the Saints. He rates Lonie and reckons its more about closing the gap between his best and his worst.
Anyway, its the silly season, gotta speculate on something during the trade period.

Small talk that Josh Bruce may be involved too.
