All the best for The Faz who made me happy and frustrated, in equal measure, in his time in black and white.
Played 100 games plus for our club- respect. |
No it wont because FA picks cant be used for points. _________________ All We Can Be |

I think his spot is taken, so he should look at his options. IF we can get a third rounder I'd be happy (it's probably unders but about right given his injuries this year), but potentially better to trade rather than free agent if possibly. Knowing Carlton they'll screw us at any opportunity so perhaps find another suitor!

Why would a team give up something when they dont have to for an unrestricted FA? _________________ All We Can Be |

If they lose a free agent they may trade to get a free agent in so as to not dilute their compensation pick. Say GCS were to get Fas, they risk their pick for Lynch going from pick 3 to pick 5 or so - so they trade one of their third round picks (ie.43) to get Faz. They have 6 picks before then, including 5 before pick 30 (assuming a free agent compo pick for Lynch in the first round).
Would they use pick 43? Maybe, but probably would prefer pick 3 instead of 5 and 43. Not sure if they've got any academy prospects this year but could also trade a packet of picks for a future pick (ie. Pick 29, 43 for Faz and our second round pick next year) but given this years draft is so good I expect they'd use pick 29.
There are scenarios, we would obviously target teams who are going to lose players to free agency.

Fair points, but we dont get to target anyone. Faz decides where he wants to go as an unrestricted FA and we go from there. In this scenario its the scum. _________________ All We Can Be |

If this really is his plan, they should stop playing him in the VFL and end his contract. Or make him ruck against Grundy at training for the rest of the season. |

Doesn't chase. Doesn't tackle. Doesn't impact.

You remember the joy of the 8 second (or was it 12?) set play from kick-in to goal? |

Faz has to do what is in his best interest. A 3 year deal? Faz sign now and good luck. |

We cant match three years, not with his history.
That's how one club gets a free agent. They have to take a risk and be prepared to offer something the home club is unwilling or unable to offer. Sometimes its the cash and others its contract length.
If we are into Lynch and Darcy - and I dont think we will have both - then we will need to free up the cash however with Fas it would more than likely be about the 3 years. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

Very harsh Magpie Bat.
He doesn't tackle as much as he / we would like
He can impact & we've all seen that. He doesn't impact consistently - although I expect yours was the abbreviated verson. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

I feel sorry for Fasolo.
Battle away manfully these past 2 seasons playing for a bottom eight side and one with serious forward transition problems.
And yet he still produced the most productive seasons of his career to date and was one of our best goal kickers.
Fast forward to this season and he was made to jump through more hoops than plenty of others have been in the past to get a senior opportunity and when it finally came he was injured at the start of the second quarter.
He may not be in our best 22 anymore but in reality he has never received a proper opportunity either so his true worth remains an unknown within this improved team.
Not surprised he is looking for more opportunity elsewhere and I just hope we aren't silly enough to contemplate moving Elliott on also based on one good year of football from other personnel. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
