Happy if we get May.
If Scharenberg's body could actually hold up then Langdon would be very expendable. As it is, I'd like to keep him if possible but we shouldn't be fooled into overpaying him.
How highly we rate Quaynor may also come into the equation somewhat. The other is Murphy who has the potential to be Langdon like with more tricks. _________________ Well done boys! |

If it means we get May, would trade in a heartbeat.
Beams would be a nice to have, but not needed as much as a big bodied FB. |

Unhappy either way. Disgusted with the club, really, if it happens. You know that old saying about a champion team beating a team of champions? Langdon is the kind of unsung player you build a champion team around. Beams, on the other hand, belongs to the latter category, and May's lack of discipline seems to indicate the same – highly-skilled individuals, but that's it. Wouldn't say no to May if we can get him, but I would much prefer to keep Langdon. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Why is it the clubs fault? If Langdon wants to cash in that’s his call.
Plenty of other players have stayed for less. _________________ http://youtu.be/hvtdbfI1sqQ |

The fact the club waited until the Tuesday after the Grand Final to even make him an offer, is evidence it's our club who is not so keen to keep him, not the other way around. In fact, he has stated he is happy and would prefer to stay at Collingwood, but obviously, he has to be wanted for that to happen. |

That's one slant to put on it.
We've offered Langdon a contract at the value we think he's worth. So far he hasn't accepted. And you don't build a champion team around a Langdon type, he's actually a replaceable role player. His type can help build a champion team culture, like a Nick Maxwell, but whether he's replaceable in this regard is impossible to tell from outside the club.
The Langdon situation is looking a bit like when Toovey tested the market. Langdon has better timed his attempt due to a good finals series so could actually leave, but we shouldn't be bluffed into overpaying him. As a player he's near the bottom of our best 22 and not difficult to replace. Due to injuries he played a more prominent role for us later in the year, but that doesn't make him a star. _________________ Well done boys! |

This. In the end, the club seemingly didn’t put enough faith in him, or else they would have committed to him before. Sounds like they were considering using him as trade bait until he proved the doubters wrong during the finals series – if so, I would bear him no ill will for seeking better options elsewhere. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

^^We had (still have) many players out of contract. What it shows is he wasn't one of our top signing priorities. We needed to see how other things were playing out to know how much we could offer.
He's a role player in the bottom part of our best 22 on a line where we have quite a few options. I don't see that the club has done anything wrong here. A contract has been offered, he either accepts or not. As a player he won't be difficult to replace (rumours of Jake Kelly who is pretty much a replica). _________________ Well done boys! |

Want both, but May is the priority.
Jake Kelly has been brought up too as a direct replacement for Langdon. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Langdon is better than Kelly.
Stupid as it may sound, we have a ready made replacement for Langdon on the list already. The player who's spot langdon took due to injuries. 190 cm half back intercept marking machine.
