I’ve followed AFL and Collingwood for years. I’ve noticed patterns that seem to re-emerge time and time again.

What do the most successful clubs over the last 20 years have in common?
They run a full review of the football club, examine the areas that need immediate improvement, make a plan and follow it through to the letter.
Leigh Matthews cleaned out the Brisbane coaching staff and hired his own team. He came with a plan. Geelong’s Brian Cook conducted a review, which caused Mark Thompson to become less hands-on with the players and working more to a system. Hawthorn conducted a review similar to Geelong and caused Alistair Clarkson to become less hands-on and work to a process. This worked for the Western Bulldogs and Richmond. Both had aging lists so they were only going to get a couple of years to win a flag.

You see a pattern emerging? Collingwood have a young list with a great blend of experienced players. Nathan Buckley has mellowed and learned to take his hands off the wheel. A happy culture is the secret to success in any business or team. The All Blacks are the ultimate example. Players signing for unders. This happens at happy clubs. Hence why I think GWS is losing so many players.

If history is a decent guide, we could leave a real mark on the game and be known as one of the truly great teams of the modern era.

With inclusion of All Australian Beams & Premiership player JR plus the improvements to first yr player (no 2nd year’s blues) Stevo and The Bear
we may well prosper

Dont forget our 4 gun recruits - Lyndon Dunn, Matt Scharenberg, Jamie Elliot and Darcy Moore.

And our 2 gun draft picks - Quaynor and Kelly.

With the addition of Beams I am probably going to love the 6-6-6 rule.

And you can bet any money you like the brains trust at Holden Cntr. have gone into a plan that will benefit us and the 6-6-6 rule (as will all clubs)

Wonder what that new rule induce bulking up an all ready great midfield

Beams and De Goey waxing the mid and goal area during a game or mebbe Stevo and JT

Bucks said “ We ain’t finished —it’s not over

I believe that completely and absolutely

It feels a bit like recruiting Jolly and Ball with Roughie and Beams.

A thought that popped into my head last night was "What if Jamie can get back to somewhere near his best? " What a dynamic forward line that would be. Okay, maybe only one really tall in Mason, but with so many high quality players roaming around him and a top mid-field delivering the ball, it could create havoc. Maybe Very Happy

having DeGoey, Cox, Elliott, Hoskin-Elliott and lightning quick Stevo setting up in the front 6 ..... all going 1-1 all very strong overhead against similar size...

Quick ball from the centre......hmmmm dare to dream!!!
