Apologies Jezza, but I've only just caught up on this report (have had other things on my mind ). It was comprehensive and brilliantly summarized. Many thanks indeed. |

The day has come. We breathlessly await.
Peter Murphy's addition to the Board will be a formality.
Other than that... |

I just got back from the AGM.
Nothing much to report really. There was a lot of love in the air. Travis cloke and Mcaffer were there to receive Lifetime member awards. They both spoke well and Travis was especially effusive about the club, including Bucks.
Bucks was there but did not speak, but was acknowledged by everyone in the room for the phenomenal job he has done with our team and his inspirational speech delivered a few days after our GF loss.
We are in a good financial situation and our board clearly has some first class financial/business experts.
The outreach work of our club, particularly providing beds for the homeless, made me enormously proud of our club.
When it came to question time, there were a few grumbles about the absence of a coffee machine at the AGM - I kid you not! Plus, one member wanted guaranteed GF tickets extended to all social club members, not just Legends members. Eddie pointed out that last year the club only received 15,000 GF tickets from the AFL, so we are not able to make them available to all members.
Finally, I got to ask Eddie if the board would consider finding a way to permanently honour the great Johnny Greening by lending his name to a new players award or medal. Eddie said they would take it on board.
Apart from that, there wasn't anything particularly exciting to report.
All I can say is bring on the 2019 season! |

The John Greening award.
For the player who has overcome physical or emotion issues and got to play again.
Well Greening did make a comeback from that terrible bashing.
That was a great effort. |

Wonderful that our epoch-defining CHF has been given life membership. One of our greatest ever, despite his goal-kicking foibles. Congratulations on a fine career, Travis. |

This is an excellent suggestion, originally asked by RudeBoy. Love the idea!!! It would give due reward to those players who have won out, against all the odds.
The only problem is there would probably be a couple of genuine contenders each season - thinking, just for starters, of Jamie and Schazza, if they should get back for games this year. How could you pick who was the most deserving??? |

He was an absolute man mountain and gave us so many wonderful memories. I recall Eddie commentating on a Collingwood game for Foxtel (Press Red for Ed) against Richmond. Trav had a set shot from a long way out near the boundary line and Richmond supporters were hanging over the fence, really giving it to him. Ed said something along the lines of "Shut up ya mugs. That's closest you'll ever get to greatness". Trav duly sent it through the big sticks. He always was a better shot when it was more difficult.
Really very pleased to see Brent Macaffer get life membership too. He was a hard-working, courageous, tough and unassuming player who always gave 110% for the Pies. Congratulations to him as well. |
