We get 7 Friday night lights, and 2 Thursday nights (Tiggers and Bears). We get a WEEK break before and after ANZAC Day this year (thanks Ed!), but the mind boggles why we play Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium on a Friday night. Here's the full fixture.

Richmond, West Coast, Melbourne, Essendon and Footscray twice.

This is the most critical difference between determining a hard fixture from a soft one and anything in-between.

It is as tough as you could probably get. No likely bottom half teams. 3 of them are from the top 4 last year, one of them is the longest road trip (and get a great ride from the umps when at home). Dons are either challenging for the 8 or in it. Dogs appear to be the easiest of that lot and are not that easy.

We get none of the cellar dwellers twice. None.

It can change quickly (like Adelaide and the Dogs drop offs). But at this time hard to see Tiges, WCE, and Dees being anything but finalists and Bombers will be an OK or good side.

Its a difficult fixture.

Draw difficulty for 2019. Rank is hardest to easiest.
https://twitter.com/championdata/status/1057808910562713602

Colours are for 2018 points differential.
Red = Top-4
Pink = Top-8
Green = Bottom-4

Why are we marked in 'pink' as opposed to red?

Richmond, West Coast, Melbourne and Geelong are all marked in red.

I believe this Champion Data graph is based off "points differential". So if you rank the AFL 2018 ladder in order of "points differential" you get the ladder looking like this below.

Collingwood are 5th based on that ladder and are therefore in the Top 8 and are pink.

TEAM -- POINTS DIFFERENTIAL
1 RICHMOND +569
2 MELBOURNE +550
3 GEELONG +491
4 WEST COAST +355

5 COLLINGWOOD +347
6 HAWTHORN +330
7 GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY +237
8 NORTH MELBOURNE +160

9 SYDNEY +158
10 PORT ADELAIDE +126
11 ESSENDON +94
12 ADELAIDE +76
13 BRISBANE -224
14 BULLDOGS -462
15 FREMANTLE -485
16 ST KILDA -519
17 GOLD COAST -874
18 CARLTON -929

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Pretty sure that in 2010 we had the other teams from the top 4 in 2009 twice.

Turned out that they were the same top 4 in 2010.

Expect 4 of the double up sides we play will be top 8, so looks like we will play 11 times against top 8 and 11 times against non top 8 sides.

Tough draw but we can do it.
