Did we trade Santana? Shocked

Is Buckingham out injured? Mad

Is Brian May in the magoos? Sad

Greg or Duane Allman? [can't fit 'em both under the cap...] Confused

Fair enough - out: Cray (omitted) in: Carlos - here's an interview with him at training, earlier this week, with some footage of him taking a few lazy shots at the big sticks from a tight angle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqZceAQSJvc

Brian May is working his way up from the under-19s, in this company, Buckingham can't be considered for a place ahead of Peter Green and Peter Green wasn't selected and Duane, of course - Gregg was a solid organist but about the fifth best guitarist (Duane, Dickey Betts, Derek Trucks and there must be another one in the lineup somewhere) in the Allman Brothers.

Ok, so we are through with the JLT. Here is where i think we stand in terms of the week 1 team. I recognize that i might be wrong in terms of injuries and the readiness of players (if so, obviously there will be changes). I took the view that Sier might not be ready for round 1 but that Howe would and Elliot would. All of those assumptions might be wrong, but we'll see.

Injured, gaining fitness:

DeGoey, Adams, WHE, Sier, Dunn, Scharenberg, Reid and Wells. [its long isn't it]

Team:

Langdon, Moore, Maynard
Aish, Roughhead, Crisp
Mayne, Treloar, Sidey
Varcoe, Mihocek, Stevo
Elliot, Cox, Thomas

Grundy, Pendles, Beams

Int (from): Phillips, Howe, Godsack, C Brown, Greenwood, Quaynor

Not ready for consideration:

youth: T. Brown, Murphy, Daicos, Kelly, Bos
not ever: Crocker, Wills

I think your Collingwood bias is showing. Most of the guys you’ve chosen can’t play a note, let alone use a “wah wah” pedal.

As always... I wonder how long the injury lists of other clubs are.

Heck E we actually had same side (I had players lined up differently)
I think we will play a 7th defender off bench against Cats due to there 3 bigger forwards
I had Howe starting on Rowan Roughy on Hawkins and Moore on the Rat
Leaves us Goldie or Langdon or Checkers to be able leave there man to help out
Think we will go with a smaller forward line with speed because Cats lack that down back

^ Sier in our best 22 but injured? I think that's giving him the benefit of 2 doubts. He clearly has not done enough to be considered in our best 22 at this stage of 2019.

in my defense, i did say a best 22 "caliber" player. He was good enough to play in our grand final team (even if his tank did let us down badly in the second half).

So is it a straight swap of Mayne for Beams this week??? Or does Greenwood or Appleby take C. Brown's spot? Not convinced that Brown is a best 22 caliber player.

Howe, Moore, Maynard
Langdon, Roughhead, Crisp
Phillips, Adams, Sidey
Thomas, Mihocek, Stevo
Elliot, Cox, DeGoey

Grundy, Pendles, Beams

Int: Aish, Treloar, Varcoe, [Brown]

Best 22 but not in team: Varcoe

BEST 22 calibre players who are injured (gaining fitness): WHE, Sier, Scharenberg. Mayne

Outside best 22: Goldsack, Appleby, Murphy, Daicos, Greenwood

Not ready for consideration:

Probably done: Crocker, Wills, Dunn, Reid and Wells.

By the way, how many posts do you have to do to crack it in the 22??? i can do more.

Callum Brown has done enough to keep his spot, and in all fairness, he needs a few weeks of back to back senior footy, for the club to gauge whether he has a future with us beyond this year. At some stage this year, the same will probably apply to Daicos too.

without taking into account improvement that will likely come from youth (including guys like Kelly and Quaynor), returns from injury of some key players (like Scharenberg and Elliot) and seeing how the aging quality players (like Reid and Wells) hold up, here is my shot at our best 22 for 2019 and a summary of the list that comprises the rest.

THE TEAM

Crisp, Moore, Langdon
Maynard, Howe, Mayne
Phillips, Beams, Sidey
Pendles, Mihocek*, Stevo
DeGoey, Cox, WHE

Grundy, Treloar, Adams

Thomas, Sier, Varcoe, Aish.

KEY RESERVES: Greenwood, Goldsack, Dunn, Elliot, Wells, Reid, Appleby*, Scharenberg, Roughhead, Brown, Daicos

KEY YOUTH: Quaynor, Kelly, Murphy, T Brown, draft pick 3, draft pick 4, Lynch*.

WAITING TO BE DELISTED: Wills, Crocker, Broomhead*, Murray*.

Did i miss anyone?

interestingly, since November 2018, very few changes to our best 22.

I would say, its Roughead and Elliot in and Sier and Varcoe both out (but unlucky). Brown, Greenwood and Reid also unlucky. six of our best 22 currently out.

Crisp, Moore, Langdon
Maynard, Roughhead, Howe
Phillips, Pendles, Sidey
Elliot, Mihocek, Stevo
DeGoey, Cox, WHE

Grundy, Treloar, Adams

Beams, Thomas, Mayne, Aish

12 behind these guys: Brown, Varcoe, Greenwood, Sier, Reid, Wills, Goldsack, Appleby, Daicos, Scharenberg, Wells, Dunn.
