Collingwood have Oscar Lonie, the son of Ryan Lonie, starting as a bottom-age 17-year-old with the Dandenong Stingrays (draft eligible next year), Max Christian, son of the match review officer Michael Christian, in the under 16s at the Oakleigh Chargers (eligible 2026), Josh Fraser’s son Ted, also with Oakleigh’s under 16s but yet to turn 15 and over 190cm already. There’s also Max and Marcus Rocca, both 14 and the sons of brothers Anthony and Saverio Rocca respectively.

Max Rocca was playing junior football in the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) for the Ivanhoe U14 Mixed Black team in 2023.
Marcus Rocca was also listed as playing in the YJFL for the Ivanhoe U13 Mixed team in 2023.
Perhaps they'll step up into the U15 boys for 2024.
U15 y/o Rocca boys I'd imagine are already units. I suspect their mixed Comp days are over.

Ayce Buckley, the son of former Collingwood player Nathan Buckley, is making a name for himself in the karting world. In 2024, he has been actively participating in various karting events. Notably, he had a strong performance at the Golden Power Series held at the Rochester Karting circuit, where he was mentioned for his impressive racing, clean sweeping all races.
Additionally, he raced in the KA3 JNR class during the second round of the Australian Kart Championships2. It seems that Ayce is following a path in motorsport, showcasing his skills on the racetracks.
Jett Buckley, the son of former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley, is also involved in the karting scene. In 2024, he is listed as a competitor in the KA2 class of the Australian Kart Championship, racing for the team with a Kart Republic chassis and IAME engine. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

So no more “Buck’s kids” to look forward to seeing in the black and white 😫 Ah well, it’s their choice and future. Maybe a forlorn hope that they might like to play footy one day 🙄 _________________ I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. I see a Tranquilli is playing in the Northern Knights (Coates Talent League).
https://www.playhq.com/public/profile/730df78c-7d68-44e9-8f92-c3b3c5bd4c57/statistics?tenant=afl
Might it have been his father who sported the #37 in 12 games for the Carringbush in the 90's?
There would be a few of us on this board that caught his 6 goals when we put ladder leaders WCE to the sword back in 1994 at the MCG.
https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/290076/tranquillis-magical-moment
I wouldn't have been alone thinking our season and finals aspiration were well and truly back, before losing the following week to the Bears. The Bears!
As we were bundled out of the final's week 1 by the eventual premiers WCE, the cracks were perhaps starting to show as the following season we sunk into the 1st of the Clubs dark years of 1995-2001.
Also in that list is a Samuel Gayfer. Anyone know if this is the son of 'the French Model' aka Mick 'the blanket' Gayfer? (Gayfer has six brothers in all so I suspect it's more likely from that group, otherwise we would have heard about him earlier) _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

Tranquilli had his goal kicking purple patch, and then just faded away.
But he did make a name for himself, for years after, we used to jokingly refer to some newbies as : 'another Tranquilli' ..along those lines. |

There will be a lot of changes coming to both NGA and father son prospects on the back of the “Competitive balance “ review which is almost complete.
Based on conjecture only, it is more likely clubs looking to entice father / son talent will face a reduced incentive scheme on offer come future draft nights.
Conversely, clubs looking to nurture future NGA talent may be further incentivised going forward as compared to the current ridiculous arrangements that only encourages the Vic clubs to wash down their current Academy programs.
There’s a lot to play out here but significant changes in this space are coming. |

Yes, you'd expect that. It was OK for the AFL while we were getting Brayden Shaw and Jason Cloke but we've now recruited a captain, 2 Copeland Trophy winners and an epoch-defining Naicos. It's surprising F/S has lasted - even in its present, modified form - this long: the AFL usually closes down anything that might help Collingwood as soon as they notice it. |

Tom McGuane apparently had a good game on the weekend for the Western Jets.
McGuane racked up 38 disposals, 10 marks, nine inside-50s, four clearances and kicked one goal for a total of 171 SuperCoach ranking points.
The Keilor product – who does not turn 17 until August – also recorded 22 score involvements in the Jets’ 24.21 (165) to 2.4 (16) victory.

Absolute smacking, but not bad for a 16 year old playing his first few games in the U18s _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
