^ I watched a bit of the women's game but I don't think we can learn anything about the impact of these rule changes from these matches..... particularly the change to the kick-out rule. The difference in skill level between the men and the women is too great to allow any meaningful comparison.

thats unfair - I thought their hand eye was very good. Their timing at running on and support was practiced. They worked hard and deserve better than people drawing comparisions.
Good on 'em hope to see a longer AFLW season. Damn sight better than the cricket or tennis.

Just watched Monday training highlights at CFC website. Felt a warm glow seeing Jamie Elliott flying for marks again and giving a reminder of just how brilliant he was in earlier days. He deserves the footy gods to be kind to him (and us!!) after all he has gone through with the back and the hammies.

We are still six or so weeks from games that shape our season (with two JTL hit outs prior) there will be players cherry ripe and others a percentage away from ready

I have seen (and read ) Jamie,s progress which I hope is forward and not stagnant like yrs gone

This season tho I believe we have more back up players than 2018 to play and hold an early slot —then the not quite ready become ready pressure is on to hold your slot

A healthy situation IMHO

Yeah, absolutely agree BazBoy.

Because we were able to give some experience to quite a few last season, because of the cursed injuries, we are now blessed (at the moment anyway!) with not having to rush players back that are not exactly, as you say, cherry ripe.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for those who had long term injuries last year, like Dunne, Shaz, Darcy, Jamie to get back in the side!!

Seir and Miocek are two of several discoveries from the adversity of the injury list

I actually am interested to see what happens if we get a decent reduced injury
list which will give Nathan an unsual “headache “

I'd like to know how Roughead is shaping up? He could be a smoky I reckon.

Extremely pleased we added him to the team and at 2 meters—100 kg and 8 seasons as a big bodied experienced AFL player

Not too old (born a month after 1990 flag) —I’m chuffed to have him with us

The only thing Roughead has seemingly contributed so far is injuring our most important player.

What a clumsy big oaf.

LOL.
