Heard that the Dogs are favourites to obtain Bruce.

Would be a good acquisition if we can sign him.

Yeah, fits a big need for us.

Age 27, 197cm, forward. We need to get involved here.

Would be a trade, but how difficult?

FoxFooty reporting that Tomlinson is very upset that he was dropped for todays Elimination Final. He's played 80 of the Giants past 81 matches. They also suggested that it's expected that he'll be squeezed out of the Giants line up with Kelly and Coniglio staying and Cameron coming off contract next year.

Saints interest in him has dropped and the Demons are the favorite to land him.

I still think Tomlinson fills a need for us too.

Age 26, 193cm, elite running ability, defender who is capable of playing at either end of the ground in the key positions and pinch-hitting in the ruck.

Are the Saints still into Goldie?

Yep good call especially when he is obtainable for "FREE". We have an interesting list dilemma that I'll start in a new thread, but the gist being:

* a likely player retirement/delistings of up to 8-10 players
* only 4 draft picks (current indicative order 35, 53, 66 and 71

I don't expect the Pies to give away too much until our finals campaign is over, we don't know who of our guys will enhance their value and unlike the Cats re: Kelly we shouldn't want unnecessary distractions. For we are Collingwood, KING of the Unnecessary Distractions!

Why would any player in his right mind even contemplate going to either one of these basket case clubs?

Lever and May must be vomiting blood at their numpty managers for consigning them to Melbourne, when they could very well be playing in a Prelim final by now. Too bad, so sad. Razz

On the trade table? The players who may look for a fresh start in October

A few interesting names there. A few old men too.

Bruce/Wood is the obvious one for us.

Langdon out of price range. Hill would be amazing, but we cannot match the Saints offer. Greenwood could be ok.

There's a few rucks on that list too, but all would be looking to be a #1 option. We need to find a backup option thats not going to whinge about playing a bit of VFL.

Then there's a few you'd love to get, but are linked to other clubs.

We have more cap space than people realise. But our lack of draft picks will make any trades tough.

Is that a call to bring back the draft and trade forum? I think it is.

#4 Priority - Back Up Ruck.
Stefan Martin (32), Matthew Kreuzer (29), Todd Goldstein (30), Paddy Ryder (30), Callum Sinclair (29) are all approaching that age. If one were to be let go by his club, we could offer a ruck/coaching role whilst in the window. However, I don't think we'd be too willing to pay big money here, but I think its something we need to address.

Article today on AFL website about available rucks. Some may say that Cox and Roughead are there to back up Grundy and Lynch is developing in the VFL. But I'd still look at an older ruck thats willing to take a backup job, if one exists. Unlikely, but maybe we can snag one in the rookie draft if other clubs pass.
...

Goldstein has now signed a 3-year deal with North.

I'm still on the Tomlinson train.

Perfect fit for the team. What are his wage demands? I'm hearing its Dogs/Saints and most likely Dees... Shocked

What are we thinking not going for this guy?

Jamie Elliott is what we are thinking

JDG, Moore and Grundy need re-signing.

Elliott needs re-signing, but there's a big chance he goes to the Dees or the Hawks.

We've had a few retire and theres a few delistings coming up. There's going to be decisions on Dunn and Varcoe coming up too.

I guess the question is, do we have the space to re-sign our stars and then go after Tomlinson? Or are we willing to let Elliott go?

Cameron and Jenkins will not take up much cap. And are we serious about Howard?

193 cm 26 year old? We have those.

Can't see us getting Jenkins or Howard if we're apparently trying to trade back in to the first round, unless we get Jenkins with a junk pick on the last day, so not sure who we will get, but it shouldn't be someone for the sake of it.
