| Post subject: Please don't "quote" - PostReply instead |  |
|
PLEASE don't quote a previous post just to add a few lines of admiration - it inevitably burns much screen real estate for very little added value.
Much more simple and space saving use the PostReply button and start your keen observation with something like "WRT to WPW's brilliant post above..." (With Regard To).
If you feel you really have to quote the post to add relevance, you can and should edit down the text to include just the relevant phrase to which you are responding.
And don't get us started on quoting quoted quotes...

Need someone to look at the bbcode to update the "quote" button to post a hyperlink to the post rather then the whole content
TBH the platform this site is built on is 30 years old and needs to be changed. Have not looked around at other bulletin/forum platforms but if others agree with me we can get the ball rolling |
