Interesting person on the subject.

Quote:
Jareth Nebula might live on earth but he firmly believes he belongs on another planet.

The 33-year-old, who was born a woman but transitioned to become a man when he was 29, now believes he doesn't fit into any human gender and is, in fact, an alien .

The barber's shop receptionist has even had his nipples removed and shaves his eyebrows to "make him feel less human".

It was rumoured that Jimi was an alien, also. Still, his little bit of mockery of that notion at the start of "Axis: Bold as Love" did leave us "Up From the Skies" as the second track.

"I come back to find the world displaced
And the smell of a world that is burning".

This is a very interesting article about the complexities of diagnosing gender dysphoria in children:

I read the first part about Claire.

Smart parents IMO to not buy the line that they needed to accept what the kid said as fact. They neither encouraged or discouraged her, but supported her and stalled, the kid came to the realisation herself that she wasn't Trans and is now happy.

Clearly that won't work out the same in every case, the genuine ones won't change their mind and may get badly frustrated, but it's not a bad starting point.

Puberty and school can be a cnut of a time for the kids who struggle to fit in.

I’ve posted a few ContraPoints videos before, but I very much recommend this one – an engagement with the arguments of "gender-critical" radical feminists like Germaine Greer: https://youtu.be/1pTPuoGjQsI

Not to single anyone out, but WPT and TP, I particularly recommend this to you (as posters with some feminist views who have otherwise expressed scepticism about transgender identity in the past).

The ABC has a discussion on the world news as I speak in Thailand. Yvone Yong, who should know better is interviewing Prof Paula Gerber . It was largely about the hideous LBTIQ laws and sundry crimes in Brunei. Professor Gerber is meant to be a vice chair of some think tank on international matters of a humanitarian nature.

Whilst I do not challenge her assertions that the punishments are an international disgrace someone, and Yvone should have picked her up.

Her idea that as a major trading partner m a fellow member of the Commonwealth and a member of ASEAN we should use our influence. Australia has not is not and probably will never be a member of ASEAN. I expect someone coming on international television at such an exalted position of information to have a knowledge of the most important body of Nations in the region. ASEAN has repeatedly said they will pot admit Australia, China or the USA (through Marshall Islands or Guam), to enter. Possible Timor Leste will get a look in. LBTIQ issues in SE Asia are muddied and it is the muslim majority countries that persecute them.

Fail Professor Gerber.

Makes too much sense...

Question: How can President Trump claim to represent all U.S citizens, regardless of sexual orientation, when he banned transgenders from joining the military? Isn't that discrimination?

Trey Gowdy's Response:
"Nobody has a right to serve in the Military. Nobody! What makes you people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? It is very far from it - and for good reasons - let me cite a few.

The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short. Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers."

He went on to explain: "By the way, poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identification as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can't run the required course in the required time? Can't do the required number of push-ups? Not really a morning person? and refuse to get out of bed before noon? All can be legitimate reasons for denial.

The Military has one job: Winning War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability. Did someone just scream, that isn't fair? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful. YOU must change yourself to meet Military standards and not the other way around.

I say again: You don't change the Military - you must change yourself. The Military is not about being fair, it is about taking advantage of others and about winning. The Military doesn't need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars and keep our Country safe - PERIOD! If any of your personal issues are a liability that detract from readiness, Thank you for applying and good luck in future endeavors.
Any other questions?

yea nah the only considerations should be whether the applicant is mentally & physically fit for service, which should be applied to every applicant.

I agree, TP. The military has a series of tests to establish whether an individual is fit for service. If a person passes those tests, it shouldn't matter what sex they are or were.

Nope, their job is war and killing. They should be able to disqualify anyone for any reason if they think that it'll impact on their ability to wage war. A social group with a 40% suicide attempt ratio isn't a group of people you'd want in stressful or combat situations.

i though the reason for the Military ban was because transgender people were enlisting for the sole purpose of getting their sex re-assignment surgeries funded.

^ Sounds like the sort of thing Trumpistas would make up. Of course, if that were an actual problem, an easy fix for that would be for the military to only offer funding for surgeries for soldiers who had already served a certain number of years, or, even more radically, to stop funding surgeries altogether (I don’t have a strong view on that one). But the fact that none of those measures were taken indicates that this is about prejudice.

Her professional background is in construction law. She was reasonably good at that, as I recall.
