Bad News:
Crocker isn’t a standard AFL footballer
Jury still out on Tyler Brown but not looking good
Roughead is spent. There was a reason the Bulldogs let him go
Reid isn’t a ruckman. Otherwise getting into the game
IQ is making mistake after mistake. He’s a player but it will take half a season in the VFL before he gets going.

Good news:
Dane Beams won’t be keeping Josh Thomas out of the side
Sidey is a super star
Callum Brown and Daicos can play. They just need more time
We missed Jamie Elliot last year
Greenwood isn’t spent
Varcoe still has it in him
Phillips is an intelligent footballer. We should be rating him more highly
Thank goodness Langdon signed a new contract
Grundy is a barometer for the team
Mihocek is another one of those intelligent footballers Collingwood supporters underrate
Stephenson is a football genius not unlike Dusty Martin
Nathan Murphy is ready to play in the senior team unlike IQ
Crisp will be ready by round one

^

Harsh on T Brown and Roughead.

I think we over possesed the ball in the first quarter and early part of the second, too many handpasses under pressure until we inevitably got picked off. Old bad habit.

Most of the 2nd quarter much better. More precise movement, more system.

Reid on what he's showing is basically gone. He may pick up as the season goes on and be valuable , but not now. We miss the big Cox up forward.

Speaking of Forward, a forward line containing Billy, Stevo and Jordan has me getting tight in the pantal region. Damn.

Roughhead spent, turn it up. You might give him time to blend into the new team environment and establish a position before you write him off. 42 degrees I don’t reckon many will play without tireing.

Didn’t mention Langdon earlier, all class.
Stephenson all class. Dermie loves him, gets genuinely stirred up in the trouser dept when he gets onto it.
Aish and Varcoe doing some classy stuff.

Tyler Brown goal!! Having a real crack. Do you like Apples?...

Last 7 goals to the Mighty Pies.

Frustrating ball movement by the Pies, kicking long into the wind simply cherrypicked by the Freo defenders and back it comes.

Given it’s a practice match, for 2 quarters into the wind they could have simply run the lines and used sharper, precise kicking to link up the play.

Mind you they might blow themselves up doing that in the heat. But they do have the extra players on the bench to rotate...

Time to rest Pendles, Beams, Sidey and Elliott. Done enough.

Well, conceding junk-time goals late into the 3rd term might again be the bane of our season, but still a solid quarter against the breeze.

Other than that, happy with the miles getting run into their legs today.

Dunno why, he's been very complimentary and has serious wood for Stevo.

Who, specifically, does have the extra players on the bench to rotate?

Billy Elliott aka the junkyard dog. Forward 50 pressure via manic tackling is a welcome return.
Gee he gets stuck in.

Sidney’s goal, wowee. Varcoe’s and Beams shimmy my 3 favourite moments so far.

Elliott's a welcome return to the forward line.

Fingers crossed he can stay injury free during the course of the season.
