Once an olden AFL players most valuable weapon, the Torpedo Punt is in Danger.

In 1959, the Torp was used a healthy 14.7% of the time amongst the leauge.
In 1979, a steady 12.5%
However in 2018 numbers are critical, the Torp was only used a staggering 0.0098%!
Champion Data predicts that in the year 2023, The famous Torpedo Punt will be Extinct from the face of the Earth, unless you want to include the NFL punt.
In fact the last time a Collingwood player kicked a goal using the Torpedo was in 2011, Daisy against Adelaide. Before that 2010, Didak vs Carlton. Both goals an absolute thing of beauty.

How can we increase these numbers and save the Torpedo from Extinction?

Champion Data has predicted the SuperGoal to resurrect figures to around an average of 3.3%

They are real stats, my mate sent them to me via E-mail.

1986 was 6.7% but then 1987 was 11.8%.

From 1996, averages started to steadily decline

This is one I do like TM Smile

I love that one, ANZAC day 1995, I was there on the other side of the ground.... from big Pebbles. I heard the thud as he timed that torp so sweetly, it gives me goosebumps just writing that.
The roar from the crowd, and the buzzz after a long bomb is incredible.

The only thing I can think is comparable, if not better is this.....

It was my first time at the G, my first time in Melbourne. Easter Monday, the reserves game was a draw as the crowd swelled to over 90,000. We were on the 50m line of the flank Mick kicked that from... incredible, I've told the story/watched the replay so many times, and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, EVERY time. It was incredible!

One thing that I remember, was Bucks playing that day, his 4th game for the club I think Confused
Just before Micks goal, Bucks kicked the goal, that led to that bounce.
If you can find the vision, it's late in the 2nd quarter.
Bucks receives a running handball off the HB flank from memory, he kicks a lovely pass to half forward... keeps running, gets it back, and slots a beautiful 55 metery! Cool

Sounds like the commentator says "Taylor"...

Sav's opening kick may be a drop punt. Did Sav ever bother with the torp? Maybe not.

Found it, Michael Taylor 1980 SANFL GF, Aish kicks it to him...

Michael Taylor was drafted to Collingwood with Choco Williams, Aish went to Richmond.

Peter Daicos nailed one against the Saints at Vic Park one day that went through post height. The next game there was a large white stain about 5 foot by 10 foot and the blokes next to us siaid "You guys marked your spot" Mate said "Nah that was from the Daicos torp" After that it was known as theDakes stain and only we were allowed to stand there. 9 Points would not have done it justice,
