Yes he is since we contribute to his pay packet. Had he not any ability at footy he might be unemployed like many tens of thousands of kids his own age. He has no idea how privileged he is. This incident should be used to remind him!
Are we really that slack with our club culture? No wonder we've only won 2 flags in 60 years! |

I think some Collingwood fans need to remember how privileged they are ... and pull their heads in.
(Also, the idea that our club culture is consistent with or even comparable to the way it – or any AFL club – was in the 1990s, let alone the previous 30+ years you're talking about, is ludicrous. But clearly we're not exactly on planet Earth in this conversation in the first place.) _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Club has no media nous at all. Even a dumb shit like me would see that this would create a problem.
The club is run by morons...and sadly, paid morons.
Disgusting really that we could be so blind. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Whatever the player and the club do or want to do, they should do it quietly.
He should just lie low. It's common sense. It's natural that kids might lack common sense, but our club lacks it. |

Well, Bucks was a bit prickly this morning, wasn't he. Good to hear! A bit of controlled aggression from the coach on Friday night may just help to pump our boys up. |

Topics covered in this morning’s interview (which seems to have avoided all matters of pressing interest re. the Pies’ AFL season):
Telling players whether they are in or out of the selected team, delisted etc.
Justin Langer’s approach to cricket coaching and the redemption of disgraced players.
Buckley’s past mentorship of Lleyton Hewitt. Buckley: “Knowledge can be shared, wisdom cannot”.
Coaches criticising players caught on camera.

Topics covered in this morning’s interview:
Long and in-depth discussion about the new documentary ‘Collingwood from the Inside Out’ focusing on Treloar’s mental health “struggles” last year (and as recanted on ‘AFL 360’ last night). Pressures on players today vs. the past. Buckley: “I think there are plenty of AFL footballers who are playing football that really don’t want to play AFL footy, but it’s a good earner and they’ll take it while they can get it.”
Use of ballet in training and Japanese philosophy in coaching.
Cox’s eye injury. Had eye operation last night. Went well. How does Collingwood handle Cox’s absence? Buckley: “We’ll find way”, “Plenty of things we can do, but they’ve got to work”, “Got three weeks to look at a couple of alternatives”. Buckley talks about the opportunity that comes with the challenge of Cox’s absence and asks himself, “Why can’t we be better?” without Cox.
Wells recovery going ahead of schedule. Training session tomorrow. If gets through (his call) he can play.

Thanks Woods! Interesting comments from Buckley as always. Fascinated by his brief mention of the discussions in the rooms at half-time against Gold Coast when Wills was told he would be helping Grundy in the ruck. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

the part abotu Japanese philosophy was interesting - to do with accepting imperfections and hardship and carrying on, seems to have had a big impact on how they are handling the current crisis.
Actually i shouldnt' use that word because they aren't even acknowledging that there is a crisis which is pretty radical philosophy. |

Topics covered in this morning’s interview:
Line-up for 2nd Ashes test at Lords. Buckley asked his views of changing selection or keeping the cohesion of a winning team intact. Buckley: squad mentality rules.
Proposed pre-season trade period. Buckley: More Ned Guy’s role than me. Not enough detail yet. “Just another crack at post season trading”, and “I like the idea of the ability to add to the mix” but prefer mid-season trading. The one club player has become a thing of the past. AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan’s comments for/against specific player movement is out of order.
End of season competition. Buckley: “We’re playing finals now”. He doesn’t look at the ladder predictor (but his players might). Crows game against West Coast had finals like intensity. Will look at other top teams playing this weekend to gauge form. Some lower level teams have the form to succeed during late season and finals.
Admission by ‘Razor’ Ray Chamberlain that he let personal “belligerence” govern his umpiring decisions. Buckley: “How open and transparent is that?” and says it was courageous. Talks about good umpires like Peter Cameron being part of the game, and recounts incidents during playing days at Brisbane. “I don’t want to be umpired by a robot”.
Robert Harvey as a senior coach candidate? Buckley: Is ready to be a senior coach. Understated and “doesn’t play the PR game”. “One of the more misunderstood people in footy”.
