After tonight's performance we can recalibrate our new approach. What is clear is that our disposal skills have improved enormously, and we are seeking the correct balance between frenetically fast ball movement, and slower possession keeping and probing for an opportunity. Brisbane failed to apply adequate midfield pressure which enabled us to unleash a devastating capacity for eviscerating ball movement. Naturally, other teams will apply far more pressure through the corridor. So we have to improve our mix of contolling possession with fast ball movement

I expected Brisbane to be more aggressive towards our ball carriers tonight, but they really didn't attack us physically. If you want to go head to head with us then you'll get burned, if you want to knock us off you have to close down our time and space and tackle us relentlessly. Not too many teams are capable of that, but I really thought the Lions would be fired up for this one. So, I am very grateful for a cruisey win coz you just need to have one of these now and then.

Treloar was our best mid but generally we were very evenly performed through the mid as well us up forward with multiple goal scorers, hitting the scoreboard with 120+ was a welcomed sight, just to show we can actually still do it.

At half time Zorko said he thought they had control of the 2nd quarter and they looked to come out in the 3rd to swing the game their way but we absolutely took them apart (he must have felt quite silly during the 3rd q), we really hammered down the gas and blew them away. So, it is scary what we can do if we apply ourselves, however, geez we can lairise like no other. We left a 100 point job on the table tonight, but I will begrudgingly settle for 10 goals.....

Good job Pies, more of that next week please if not too much trouble!

Relaxing no stress win for a change.

Other than Aish's concussion, no injuries.

Bruise free game of footy, so recovery should be fine for next week.

Treloars best game this year including his breaking the lines.

Grundy dominated again.

All the mids got their fair share and forwards all contributed.

Moore and Crisp stand outs down back, but all did their part.

Starting to really warm to Brown. Looking more and more that he is a genuine footballer with a long career ahead.

I gave Brown votes because he thinks. We needed to put some weight on him . In 2 years time he could be the replacement for Pendes as a distributor and we can let Pendles spend a year or 2 in the forward pocket like Dakes and mathews did , and to some extent fartlett and kick the50 goals a year. I think Treloar made about mistakes. the rest hit someone on the tit and they were off.

Yes, it was a fine performance from Callum Brown tonight. He is courageous, and very skillful with the ball in hand. His efforts were rewarded with 2 goals.

Impressive win against an opponent that's started well this season. I was expecting a tough match, but we completely outplayed them at various stages and blew them away in the second half.

Treloar was excellent tonight and my BOG. His inability to run both ways is still concerning, but when he's on the attack he's an excellent footballer.

Mihocek was excellent both up the ground and being able to find the goals. It was one of his best performances in his short career and he's already grown into one of my favourite players.

In addition to Mihocek, all our other forwards contributed to the scoreboard ticking over which was the biggest positive of the night. Last year, we were renowned for our spread of goal kickers and to see that replicated tonight was fantastic, something which had been lacking a little in previous weeks.

Looking forward to ANZAC Day.

My favorite bit was when the whole ch7 commentary team became deflated in the 3rd. It was flat as a pancake.πŸ˜œπŸ‘

Sadly, could be said of many.

But Stephenson and WHE run hard both ways.

It was good seeing Beams stick it up the Lions supporters with his goal.

He is a Collingwood premiership hero.

Yes,I noticed that too.Bruce in particular sounded like he’d just been to a funeral in the last quarter. Smile

I don't get the negative comments on McAveney. I think he is a great commentator...really adds passion and excitement in his call, and warmly praises courage and effort. His funereal approach in the last quarter is typical of him when the game is over, and the last quarter is simply going through the motions, regardless of who is playing.

"Funereal"? Have you guys been listening to too much Rex Hunt?

Nah...don't know anything about Rex Hunt. When the game is over, McAvaney typically drops to a monotone, passionless call. But it is independent of who is playing. I love him because he simply applauds brilliant athleticism and courage, regardless of which team.
