Pity, I actually enjoyed the new format.

The show was killed off more than a couple of years ago by the political correctness movement. Since then people have mostly been watching a corpse but channel 9 was slow to realise it, living on the past glories of the show’s high ratings.

They used innuendo when talking footy cards and one showing Jesus as a Gallele player and his career being cut short —going off under the blood rule

Meh footy show was too bogan and low grade for this day and age. Talking Footy, The Age footy pod casts is where it is at now.

"High standard comedy" on the footy show was Billy Brownless in a tutu....please....*rolls eyes*....the footy show has been dead for a long long time...and it shows Channel 9 just rolled out the c-grade personalities they already had on contracts but who they could not find jobs for....case in point...Fev

Make it cheap...and hope that something happens...

Don't fear for the current cast of the footy show...channel 9 will just scrape them off the road and shovel them into thier other gutter of "you have a contract with 9 but we can't find a job for you"

Prior to that only Street Talk was watchable and that was mostly cringe factor

Stopped watching it years ago but once Sam was gone that was the final nail in the coffin. Can’t stand Dylan Alcott so was never gunna watch the new format. Poor way to axe it though. Shoulda given it a more honourable send off after 25 years.

I wonder how much the femalising footy shows is causing their demise?

Front Bar with all male hosts is the only commercial footy show smashing it at the moment.

It a genuine question as I haven't watched either the NRL or AFL footy shows for years so I don't know whether the female hosts worked or didn't work. I also note that our first foray into a female commentator proved to be a disaster too.

Long overdue.

It was declining from the time Eddie left in 2005, but it kept plodding along reasonably well when Lyon and Brayshaw were co-hosting.

It officially died when Lyon and Brownless had a falling out and the show had been on life support ever since.

The Front Bar is ten times better.
