So you are saying that Carlton's physically intimidating style of play and taxing game plan leaves teams with nothing in the tank for the following week, hence the losses?????

Maybe he's saying that all the teams Carlton have played are currently in the bottom 9 (except us). So I predict the trend to cease next week

Reid is needed solely as a back up for Cox.

This week should see Aish come in if Mayne does not recover in time.

I think we'd all like to see Sier back in the side, but he needs to produce a body of work in the VFL to demonstrate his fitness to play 4 quarters at the top level.

I'd love to see Varcoe back, but I fear his days are numbered now, much like Hawthorn's Roughead.

We looked to have a few bruised and battered players after yesterday's game, so it will be interesting to see who come's up and who doesn't.

Outs: Mayne (inj), Reid

Ins: Aish, Cox

What about Beams Rudey? He’s a lock to come back too

What I'd like:

OUT: Reid, Thomas, Mayne, Wills, Greenwood
IN: Cox, Daicos, Aish, Beams, Quaynor

Reid was well beaten by Casboult. He was easily knocked off the ball and didn't have enough speed to create separation. Didn't look like half a chance with the high ball. Coxy is a different proposition.
I agree with others on here that say Reid should be used as a backup defender only. Even then not even as a one-on-one defender.

Thomas has been consistently poor this year. Daicos played a good game in the 2nds, and was classy by foot.

Mayne (concussion) makes way for Aish.

Wills loped around the MCG. Felt like the only place we could hide him was on the bench. Beams comes in for him.

Greenwood, who is good for locking down a forward but provides no rebound from defence. Quaynor has been doing consistently well in the 2nds and it's time to blood him.

I expect us to put in a very solid, four quarter effort this week.
I think we'll absolutely destroy them!

I'll be taking the 40+ option.

I realise it's a 'wish list' but history suggests the selection committee won't make 5 changes to a winning team, barring injury

Thomas (ankle) and Mayne (concussion) seem the likely changes. Beams, Cox and Aish all in if fit to play, meaning one more would need to make way, and you'd think that would be the guy who spent half the game on the bench

Thomas??? Why does everyone underrate Thomas? How many goals does he have to manufacture out of nothing for you to see his value.

I'd be shocked if Thomas goes anywhere. He is a key component of our 7 headed attacking monster!!!

DeGoey, Cox, Elliot, WHE, Stevo, Thomas and Mihocek!!!

Combine that with our 8 headed midfield monster!!

Grundy, Pendles, Beams, Treloar, Adams, Sidey, Phillips and Sier.

And finally, our 7 headed defensive monster!!!!

Moore, Roughhead, Howe, Langdon, Maynard, Crisp, Aish!

And our best ever emergency monsters:

Brown, Mayne, Greenwood, Varcoe, Goldsack, Reid, Wells and Scharenberg.

That’s a lot of heads

Fans have been under-rating small goal scorers for... ever? because they are, by nature, inconsistent. When they pop up with 3 or 4 goals to win a game they’re the toast of the town. If they have 1 or 0 the next week everyone is calling for their heads.

People have short memories, which is exacerbated by journos who can hardly remember yesterday. Also to be honest, most fans understand much less about football than they’d like to admit.

Varcoe is another player whose true value doesn’t show up in the stat sheets because there aren’t any metrics for some of the things he does.

Like most other people, I’m just a fan. I only played in school, never had a good coach, nor any talent for that matter Smile that’s why I enjoy coming to Nick’s because there are a few posters here that have good comments. And some others who make me look like Malthouse, Coventry & Buckley rolled into one Razz
