Yes, his disposals are the problem I doubt that the Coach is looking at the trend over the last 18 months, though, because Trav was a part of the team through almost the whole of that period. I think the games he’s played this year are the problem. He had a good game against Footscray but, if you take that one out, he’s averaged a little less than 1 kick per quarter across all the other games (2, 2, 6, 4) and hasn’t troubled the goal umpires.

What I noticed last season is that Trav went to a whole new level in the last couple of H&A games then into the finals series. I think he's a born business end of the season performer. Yes, I'd like him to get more of the footy, of course but man he's a guy you just love to have on your team.

I think Thomas & Mayne will be the only outs due to injury. There's a little bit of talk that Elliott is also injured, but nothing official yet. I highly doubt we'll be making up to 5 changes, thats too many.

So with Mayne and Thomas likely out and Elliott a maybe;

Possible Ins:
Cox: If passed fit, he is in.

Beams: If fit, he is in. (However, I think he wont be ready. Just a gut feeling)

Daicos: Needs to back up his VFL performance again. Should be an emergency.

Aish: You think will play after three weeks out. Wouldnt be against a VFL hitout before being considered.

Quaynor: Is doing enough in the VFL. He knows he's close and I think that a debut will happen, just dont know if it will be this week. Make him first emergency.

Wells: I dont know what to think about Wells. He's doing pretty well in the 2s. Do you put him in front of Sier or Aish or IQ or Daicos? If he is fit and playing well, I suppose he is a big chance.

Varcoe: I'd almost prefer Varcs over Wells. He'd want to play in Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which is the following week and is up at the SCG where he was our BOG last time.

Sier: Was very good in the VFL. Might need one more game in the 2s, but should be considered if fit.

Other posters possible outs:
Reid: I think he stays in. Would like to see how he and Cox go together.

Wills: If an omission was to be made, he is the most likely. Forced changed might see him keep his spot, and I'd like to see him put two games together. Needs to do a little bit more if he wants to make it 3 games in a row, especially when you look at the names waiting to get back in.

Greenwood: Stays in for mine. Cant make too many changes.

I don't see Greenwood going out with no defender coming in. He was also quite good on the weekend. Would need Aish to return or a debut from Quaynor for a Greenwood omission I'd think.

Reckon we'll see Wells as a forward at some point. Not sure when that point will be but it will depend on fitness. Hasn't looked fit enough in the VFL for mine, but looks aren't everything. It's been reported that Elliott will miss this week, that may be his chance or possibly Varcoe.

There are potentially three forced changes:
Elliott reported as ruled out; Mayne likely to miss with concussion; Thomas a leg complaint, could be ok.

Good points.
Elliott out, Cox in doubt to return.

Therefore seems likely to be:
Out: Elliott, Wills, Mayne
In: Beams, Wells, Sier

Beams and Cox would be huge inclusions for the clash with St Kilda at the MCG on Saturday. The Pies appear set to have at least one forced change after the unlucky Mayne was concussed in his return from a fractured back, while Thomas was sore after a late knock against Carlton. Aish is expected to finally be back in the mix after missing three games with concussion and Appleby, Murphy and Tyler Brown are nearing returns, but Adams is a little further away. Scharenberg is back training with the main group as he comes back from a third knee reconstruction, but the season seems over for veteran Dunn after a second anterior cruciate ligament rupture in nine months. - Ben Collins

Yes but not as bad as before but the club is not taking any risks

Hamstring "awareness" / "tightness" late in the game v the blues

I’m sorry, but after receiving a ‘corked butt’, why rush him back to play at the notoriously hard Marvel stadium vs Port? Seems like stupidity to me.

Has the hallmarks of last year written all over it now.

Sigh.

He played a number of reserves last year too.

With Elliott ruled out already and doubts surrounding a couple of others I'd like to see us shoehorn Quaynor in even if it's as a defensive forward.

Varcoe kicked a couple of goals in the VFL but was only credited with 1 tackle from his 13 disposals.

Even young Daicos laid more tackles and he and Quaynor had nearly twice as many possessions as Varcoe and Wells.

I'd rather look towards the future, go with youth and the enthusiasm they bring to a side unless Varcoe and Wells are bashing down the door.
