Any news on langdon

Langdon has gone in for scans and a chat with the docs today.

We'll know more in a few hours. But I highly doubt he'll be flying to Sydney.

While I like Goldy I think he might be a bit slow for the Swans batch of fast young kids.

resting the top players as much as possible while still chalking up the wins is a bonus and a luxury too

And a luxury not afforded to us last season—-carefull & prudent (with a dash of luck) at our disposal are a stable of players

You could rest Reid ,JT and WHE and give Cox ,Elliot and a Daicos ,Goldy,Crocker a week

Not as fanciful as it seems

Ins: Wells, Moore, DeGoey
Outs: Wills, Langdon, Varcoe

Be crazy to rush Adams back in I reckon but channel 9 reporting he’s available. If Wells is fit get a proper game into him. This is the exact situation he’s waiting in the wings for. Can always give him a few games then the bye will be timely again for him. Sier for Wills would be like for like, if there’s any doubt on JDG I’d have Sier in too.

We need time into Reid and WHE and not sure why we need to rest. We have a bye coming up soon, that will do. Essendrug rested Dunnyher against the Swabs and they lost by a kick. That may ultimately cost them a spot in the 8.

Yes - I think we need to know whether Reid's body can stand up to senior footy. There's no doubt that he's still an exceptional talent when he can get on the park. He just got coaches votes as our best non-midfielder - ie, after Grundy, Sidey and Pendles (which didn't surprise me - I had him 4th behind 3 mids), so I can't understand why you'd "rest" him. And, really, if he'd kicked well for goal in his first game back, he might have had 7 or 8 goals from his 3 games. There isn't much point to nursing such a good footballer on our list for 6 seasons and then not finding out how well he can play when he finally does look like his body might be right.

It is worth observing that - for all his injury troubles - Reid has kicked multiple goals in 9 of his last 15 games. All up in those games, he has kicked 23 goals 20. That includes games in which he finished up injured.

Indeed, the only time he ever got a run at playing forward (2013, when he was thrown forward in desperation and then went back again before finishing the season up front), he kicked 25.11 in 13 games (in some of which he played at least partly as a defender).

I wouldn't be taking Sydney lightly at all.

Proud club and beat us last year in a similar state of affairs that they presently face on field.

If Moore and de Goey are passed fit then they play in place of Langdon and Varcoe.

Adams I would probably be more cautious with and hold back another week.

Proud club, BUT we beat ourselves at the SCG last year, and it ultimately cost us 2nd spot.

And yes, hold Adams back for another week or two; ideally bring him back snarling and breathing fire for the QB round.

^ last year vs the swans we had our worst side in for the year, plus the swans were coming off some losses and were fired up (playing for Alex Johnson), plus we lost Moore early in the game. This time is different, and we won't take them lightly.

I used the rest plan hypothetically to show how our group is better placed than last year

No I certainly wouldn’t rest H - E but only ones required to

Elliot and Beams have already said a managed rest factored in to their year

everyone always wants to think JT isn't best 22. every week he manufactures goals out of thin air when most other players would not get a shot on goal in the same circs (or he kicks goals when others kick points or oof). He is such a valuable member of our forward line.
