The elitists running the AFL are now trying to censor cheersquads from yelling out "the umpire is a wanker".
I would like all cheersquads to yell out "McLachlan is a wanker" this weekend. FFS, abusing umpires is part of the fun of going to the footy. It is harmless and humorous and any umpire who can't handle it is in the wrong caper. |

Like a Mexican Wave start at one goals and going clockwise to the other goals
So it lingered longer _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I'd prefer it if the AFL became more like golf or tennis. Please be considerate when players are taking set shots and be silent so as not to affect their concentration. In between goals there can be some light, sensible applause.
So put away your binoculars and take out your lorgnettes, people. Leave your gaucheness back in the 1990s where it belongs. Remember the 1990s? Unfunny and offensive sitcoms such as Seinfeld were allowed to stay on the air for years unabated ...and to think satire and irreverent standup comedy ran rampant. This is the 21st century. We are all about propriety, priggishness -- basically Victorian morality with even more restrictions. So please take out your Emily Post and remember what Marge Simpson said when asked if she liked to laugh:
"As long as it's tasteful. And never at someone, or with..." |

Exactly! Don't tell the fans, who pay to turn up every week how to barrack.
And while on the topic of chants, how about "Leave the rules alone were not an American clone" _________________ In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away |

The AFL is never going to let official cheersquads get away with chanting anything like that.
Cheersquads are allowed special privileges, and some quid pro quo will be expected.
Official and semi-official bodies will always be expected to demonstrate respect to the umpires. |

That’s fine too but AFL have absolutely no legal control over Joe Citizen cheering & barracking
As long as profanity and reasonable integrity is observed what can the crowd controllers (AFL employed) do—-nothing _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

What if the umpire copes it week in week out and develops a mental issue and..?
What if the umpire is yourself? or your son/daughter? parent? relative? best friend? good mate?
Can we have fun without being abusive? I think we can. For example: it is great non-abusive fun when all cheersquads yell out "McLachlan is a wanker"

Plus, if I were the umpire and saw a team's cheersquad holds up unkind banners...I would try my best to be biased against the team! |

The AFL are not questioning Joe Citizen - they sent a "please explain" to Carlton specifically over the conduct of the cheersquad.
However, if you look at the conditions of entry on your ticket, I think you might be surprised at the level of legal control the AFL does actually have over entrants to the ground. |

That sounds like a great plan! Next time I would dress up in the opposition team's clothes (heaven forbids): waving umpires-are-all-wankers banner.
Hopefully the freekicks will go all the way to the Mighty Magpies!!! |
