Apart from the obvious joy of the goal, the best bit was the look of bewildered surprise on faces of Savage and whoever the other Saint's guy was as they end up involuntarily hugging each other while Steele has apparently just disappeared.

Bugs Bunny couldn't have done it better.

Pie-supporting journo Gleeson:

"Steele Sidebottom might be the new Sam Mitchell. Mitchell survived in the game for longer than others because he had an uncanny ability to habitually wrong-foot opponents.

Sidebottom does that.

Sidebottom, like the former Hawthorn champion, is so strong and comfortable kicking on both sides of his body that he turns as often counter-intuitively onto his left foot.

It means that opponents in pursuit of him routinely go to his right hand side – as they did with Mitchell – and he turns the other way. It isn’t always because of his left foot; Sidebottom has a Mitchell-like awareness of space and the movement of other players, and then moves against that movement. On Saturday against the Saints his last-quarter goal that started to prise the game open was a classic moment of just such a movement."

Not too many things on the footy field make me instinctively gasp with wonder, but that Sidey goal did. An all time classic!!

So good to see both Sidey and Stevo enjoying themselves after the goals too. Stewart from Geelong grinning on the way down from taking a cracker was a weekend highlight.
No point playing if you're not enjoying yourself.

Why do you find it necessary to preface quotes with your perceived affiliation?

Had full veiw of the end (last qtr one) and good veiw of those Saint players grab the space Sidey had occupied then he went wack and snavelled a goal

Same as he slipped along boundary and chipped to Checkers

And again full veiw of “The Bomb” by Stevo

We are blessed with some sheer skill

Reminiscent of a certain P Daicos in 1981 at Vic. Park against Richmond with the yellow footy on the way to a 9 goal haul in the mud.
