Is it possible that the pies can rest their top players and still chalk up the wins

Yes. To put it another way, if Buddy was playing this weekend... would we be more likely to play Moore - I'd think so.

Isn't the latest that Buddy is more likely to play than not?

They have a “plan”——starve the other side in 1st qtr (that they do now)

Then play the game as it unfolds and if other side gets off the leash rein them in

Blitzkreig actioned to impose their superiority in last qtr

^ If you exclude the 7-0 Port and 7-3 Lions games, we won our first quarters by an average of ~1 goal

Q4s excluding STK and CFC we won by an average of ~1 goal

So I hope we have a better plan for the future, given our best Q1s and Q4s were in different games, and our middle quarters haven't been as exciting

Our second quarters are poor.

Agree our middle quarters don match 1st. but their ability to respond when challenged they get pressure but not on scoreboard—on Sat when Saints got out we kicked two in quick succession —just like round 8

Maybe not what everyone wants but when opponents are almost cooked we have the engine to bury them

^ That plan works great against bottom 4 teams

STK kicked 4.9 in the first half and dominated possession in the 2nd. A better team we would have been down at least 3-4 goals by half time

We need a better plan if we're to beat Geelong, WCE and GWS

It was good to see us take control of the game (everywhere except on the scoreboard) in the second quarter. That's been consistently our poorest quarter across the season, so that was a step in the right direction.

I don't think exchanging Q1 dominance on the scoreboard for Q2 dominance, minus the scoreboard, is a step forward. Especially when our Q3 sucked. I would rather have had a good first quarter on the scoreboard.

Bottom line, we're still only playing 2 good quarters a game. Doesn't really matter which two
