I don’t want to go to the football and hear chants like that and have to explain what wanker means to my young un. That is not why we turned up. Just let the umpires do their job. It might be fun for you to bag them but it isn’t for them to put up with. This type of approach is a disease in the lower levels and age groups and leads to all unwarranted types of garbage being hurled at umpires, often who are just kids. So respect umpires at these levels as well as the AFL I say.

I'd like to see Commissioners seats represented from the amateur leagues, country footy, indigenous Aust, umpires, the AFLPA and AFLW. The Corporate bias at the helm is getting too far away from grass roots and too much orientated to Corp Aust / Pay TV. A reset is required. Get back to Community involement.

Pretty sure not one of these Commissioners would have eaten a pie in the outer.
When your scarf smells of fabric softner, time to go and sit with the people for a while.
Let the election be a warning, stray too far from your roots and suffer the consequences via backlash.

Richard Goyder Chairman 2011 (played amatuers)
Gillon McLachlan Chief Executive Officer 2014 (playerd amatuers)
Paul Bassat Commissioner 2011 (didn't play AFL)
Kim Williams Commissioner 2014 (didn't play AFL)
Major General Simone Wilkie Commissioner 2015 (didn't play AFLW)
Jason Ball Commissioner 2015 (played 193 games AFL)
Andrew Newbold Commissioner 2016 (didn't play AFL)
Gabrielle Trainor Commissioner 2016 (didn't play AFLW)
Robin Bishop Commissioner 2017 (didn't play AFL)

I remember watching NZ v Aus at the MCG back in the 80's and the crowd chanting "Hadlee's a wanker"

I'd be happy for the crowd to call out "Gillon's a wanker" but I wouldn't want to be seen supporting Carlton in any way.

you'd hate NBA games then, where the regular chant when the ref makes an obvious mistake is "REF, YOU SUCK!!

If only the ref responded with "you wish your partner did"
