Isn’t that what always happens with a suspension? The length of suspension is a serious issue but you can’t sensibly argue that he should be able to play VFL while he’s suspended.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with his shots for goal until he faced the prospect of sanctions for betting on games.

And though Trav's goal-kicking could have been better, many of our current players are much worse. When Trav missed a set shot, it was usually still a properly spinning drop punt, and it often missed by a metre or less. When our guys miss set shots nowadays, it often comes off the side of the boot (this has been happening recently with JS) and often just sneaks in for a behind, only a metre or less from being out on the full.

I don't know why people want to talk about overall goal-kicking accuracy. Our problem is set shots. We know that we score many goals from the goal square (goal line even), as all teams do, and this hides poor set-shot kicking. That's true of both JS and JdG.

AFL Hall of Fame Forwards don't average less than 2 goals a game. [Now go find one to prove me wrong]

In the AFL Legends, all the forwards average 2 goals per game or better. Including Royce Hart. I'll say it again, Travis Cloke is a Collingwood Legend, but he is not an AFL Legend.

Anyway, back on track, Stevo needs to stay fit and possibly do boxing and wrestling sessions in addition to the running and ballwork to maintain his strength and ability to be buffeted. As a forward whose attributes are getting away from people in a hurry, he is less exposable than say a defender or midfielder, who have alot more physical interactions to ensure their success in their role.

I wouldn't go too hard on the gym, I don't think it works for naturally skinny/wiry types.

Very few AFL Hall of Fame legends ever averaged close to 2 goals a game in their first 30 odd games of footy. Just saying. Cool

Well, its contentious hey, a Lawyer would argue he got suspended from the AFL, not the VFL, ? This is kinda a really different case here, he did not whack anyone, or pinch players, stomp on feet, as that Stratton did, and got a pissweak 2 weeks, what a joke, total joke, he did not do an ablett, and elbow for 3 weeks running. His case is different, maybe suspend for 6 VFL games too, but let him play last four in VFL, I can see no harm in that, but a gambling obsessed AFL under Mc Laughlan, obviously does. The whole thing stinks of gross hypocrisy. Rolling Eyes Surprised

Do you consider Jesaulenko a forward?

The challenge for Stevo is that he won't be playing football of any sort during that time. Hard to get back into the team without having some time in the VFL, especially for finals. And given our VFL form, finals is unlikely, so its more probable that he may have played his last game in 2019.

Okay.... so most of the posts in this thread are about Jaidyn's physical maintenance/improvement, match fitness etc. Sure, all those are important.
However, why do so few supporters consider the mental/psychological side of things??? It really perplexes me. It's the last frontier to mastering our game and an individual's performance..
We have all the physical/biological aspects covered - weights, endurance runnng, altitude taining, skills development, diet etc . But what about what's in his mind? He will come back from this better than ever, if he believes that he deserves to. He won't if he harbours guilt and regret.
