Anyone who think we can win a flag in the next 5 years is delusional - let alone this year.

I was filthy last year as I knew we'd £$%$ed up a chance for a flag that wouldn't come around again

sadly...I was right.

I reckon we'll win the next 7 flags in a row from here.

It all starts with a massive second half tonight.

The REALLY scary thing is this. Both Essendon and Carlton look more likely to win a flag before us now.

Easy draw and we overachieved to reach the GF. Just happened to have things run our way.

Losing the GF is going to hurt now.

2002/03 lost opportunities again.

Every other team in the comp would have taken their chances and won the GF. Only we know how to lose the big one with style. We won’t get there again for another generation

Not looking good is it?
All the numpties had to do was kill the ball on the boundary line, for the last few minutes in that GF, but noooooo, they had to f#ck it up...

It all starts with a 150 point win vs the Suns.

I'm not sure what point you think you're making - the competition is equalised and yet those spud teams have scarcely played in any meaningful final this century, whereas we have played in five Grand Finals.

For 1 win, hardly something to squawk about.

You'll get no argument from me about that - but the point being made was that Carlton and Essendon are both closer to a flag than us - all other things being equal, that should be right, given the way the competition is now run. We've had five cracks at it in 18 years, whereas neither of them has fired a shot in anger in that time. Even Footscray, South Melbourne and St Kilda have had a go in the big game in that time. The two surprising things about Carlton and Essendon are how they've managed not to make any meaningful final in that time and why they haven't both been merged with North Melbourne and relocated to New Zealand.
