Post subject: The new club website is shite....or is it just me? | |

It's probably just that an old fart like me has difficulty coping with too much change, but for the life of me I can't make sense of how to find the information I'm after on the new club website. |

No, you're not mistaken. Its much worse.
Its been 'optimised' for phone users I guess. Results in less information per square inch of screen.
Why must people tinker with things that aren't broken. Too many staff at CFC with not enough to do it seems. |

And how hard could it be for the resident tech nerd at the site to edit the highlights package of the games so we do don't have to endure the oppositions goals. Just show our goals and our highlights. |

That's not the reason you pay big bucks to have a web site. Those working on Collingwood's website should hang their heads in shame taking money for doing such a shit job. Slow, and all ways last with the news.
You say use the search function on the site. If I'm going to search I'll use sometrhing like Google and immediately find other better Collinwood info. People won't click through multiple obscure links on the Collingwood home page to find the info they want. People will gravitate to the website that hits them with the things they want to know - bang, right there on the home page, not buried behind in some hidden recess.
The club should be doing everything it can to make the CFC website to go-to site for everything Collingwood. But you go there to find eg. a simple ground map of the selected team - and its nowhere to be found (go to AFL site for that). Or to find out the broadcast/streaming details for the next VFL match - and its nowhere to be found (go to Nicks VFL sub-forum for that). |

Isn't every club's website run by the AFL? They all look the same. If so, can't we just do our own thing or are we contractually obligated to all use the same platform? |

It’s fine.
Looks much cleaner and is easier to read on a mobile device.
I have found videos load better now when I open on phone or iPad.
And if the club did start spending $$ on the website people would start complaining that money would be better spent on the footy dept. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

The responsive design is a significant improvement on the previous. It is plain to see that the development team are somewhat hampered by legacy items. i.e. The BigPond Navigation bar, Telstra Header and others.
The content panel that the Collingwood team would have control over, is the best part of the site. _________________ Form Ladder Premiers 2018! |

Surely this is an ideal job for Mrs Pert to come in and do some consulting and counselling for the media department.
According to many Nicksters she is very talented and has done great work at the club before.
How has she not been retained by the club long-term? A life-membership perhaps would be deserving? |

That would be copying Melbourne FC, who employed Mrs. Roos to teach the players new-age stuff. |

People have claimed the Murphy review recommended not going overboard with the media stuff. Since we don't have a copy of the review, I don't know how true that claim is.
Footy-department spending is maxed out. Whether it's a good or bad thing, no club in the league is willing at the moment to go over the soft cap and have to pay a 100% tax on it. |

Using the menu bar isn't using a search function. If you want news, click on News. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
