Where's the Prestigiacomo spirit, stepping aside for the greater good of the team?

Time to retire Ben. You've been fantastic for us and I admire your tenacity enormously. But its time to listen to your body.

The saddest thing out of this whole situation is that we get 18yo kids in their first year...Moore, Freeman, Kelly, and all end up with severe and career-impacting hamstrings. The first 2 so severe they had to get them operated on. Not sure if Kelly has also been operated on. Pretty damning.

We should seek a sponsorship with MediCare

Lol if you can't laugh you'd bloody cry. The poor Reid brothers. So much talent in two broken down bodies. Is it a kind of early aging syndrome?

Go over seas to America and get our damn players fixed!

How does Harvey and Burgoyne play till they are 40 yet we are retiring players at 25 (Freeman)

Pretty sure there is an element of blame on our fitness guys in the case of Moore and Freeman. Kids simply cant do the same pre-season as grown-ups. Every pre-season the body can tolerate Moore and Moore (see what i did there?). that means a seasoned player can train like a Free Man (on fire!), but kids should do carefully tailored programs!

Both Reid’s have a history of injury, so surely that is the fault of the Pies fitness dept 🙄.

Some athletes are either lucky or have bodies built for longevity.
Look at Cam Smith, 400 games in a tough body contact game.

You have others like Dyson Heppell who have a genetic issue, which the Bombers have only discovered this year.

And yes there is bad management in some cases.

People carry on about blooding young players but then whinge when they get injured because (in their view) their body wasn’t up to it.

The Reid boys it’s just bad genetic luck, nothing to do with our training. Other clubs have players with recurring injuries too, it’s not unique to us. That said, have we examined our shiny multi-million dollar training ground? Is the surface contributing? Players don’t like playing at Marvel because the surface wrecks them.

It's a pity. I guess the positive is that, for someone with a Lee Walker-like injury record, Reid has still managed to carve out an impressive career with the club over 13 seasons, played in a winning grand final and received All-Australian selection. I'd be surprised to see him take the field for us again, but he's been a great servant of the club and it's a pity that we didn't get to see more of him.
