Post subject: Eddie's radical plan for umpires | |
|
On SEN our prez has suggested a new system of umpiring our game
Scrap boundary and goal umpires etc——you’d have to go to AFL SEN for full details
But Ed trying to radically change umpires mate—-we have big issues at Collingwood so maybe look into assisting those issues first _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

With Netball, AFLW and other projects and I’m imagining they are noteworthy
and community assisting ,but 1892 we started as a footy club and thru the ensuing years very very successful .
I’m not suggesting we should not branch out but what started 127 years ago is not as appealing to supporters at present _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Don’t intend to be ungrateful to the man as he has done incredible work for us
And given the problem,s we may be experiencing he can do an incredible job of righting some or all of it _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Come on guys, if you see this as a sign Eddie doesn’t have his priorities straight, watch him at the games. Did you see how angry Eddie was at the game last week? He threw something and stormed off, and his sons stood there not wanting to follow their dad. Eddie had steam billowing from his ears, it’s the reddest I’ve ever seen his face.
This is just an attempted media distraction to get the vultures off our backs. |

Club people, including Board members and coaching staff, don't need to be angrier and angrier. They need to be more professional. |

Quote: | Goal and boundary umpires would be scrapped and matches officiated by a team of eight whistleblowers under a radical revamp being pushed by Collingwood president Eddie McGuire.
McGuire’s plan, raised by the Magpies boss with the AFL’s competition committee, involves two field umpires stationed on the goal lines and another four policing zones up the ground.
All eight could make decisions, signal goals and behinds, and throw the ball back into play.
“And I’d dress them up like (NFL) referees and put them in long pants,” McGuire said. “My suggestion is all about what would you do if you started the game again today. How would your umpiring system look?
[...]
“If you zone the game up and let the action come to you, it’s easier to officiate. They’ll be in the right positions all of the time.
“It also means you can get more women umpires and more former players involved.” |
Well that's the stupidest thing I've read this morning. But there's worse to come...
Quote: | AFL football operations boss Steve Hocking confirmed at a media briefing two weeks ago the league was exploring options to remodel umpiring. |

Steve Hocking is a completely clueless guy who says things that contradict each other. |

Eddie, why are more women umpires needed? The first and last one got dropped. What about people of colour, we need diversity! |

I don’t give a crap about Hocking and his exploration nor Eddie,s plan for that matter
In the case of the club I’ve followed since the early 50,s what I’d like Ed to do is together with board establish why so many injuries and other disruptions that aren’t helping our club
He loves the club and if he sets time aside for it maybe we can get back on track _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |
