Assuming the availability of Wells, Moore, Langdon and obviously Stephenson, here's my ideal side for September action.

B: Maynard Roughead Howe

HB: Aish Moore Crisp

C: Phillips Pendles Sidey

HF: WHE Mihocek De Goey

F: Elliott Cox Stephenson

FOLL: Grundy, Adams, Sier

IC: Treloar, Wells, Greenwood, Mayne

EM: Varcoe, Quaynor, Goldsack

I'd probably have Varcoe ahead of Noble. He has experience and is tough nut. And what if Beams is good to go? Do we put him in?

No way in hell you pick Wells unless you have your holidays booked for week 2

A few changes for me rude
Scharenberg into the backline with Crisp into the middle and Seir to the bench with Wells gone

Well, if it's the 'ideal' team we're looking at, then I guess we're assuming all players are match fit and in form. In which case, Langdon can't be left out, especially when you consider his performance in last years finals.
Greenwood is the spare defender that would come out of your side to make way for Tom.

I agree with this. Langdon was one of our best in last year's grannie. He would have to be in the team. Of course, who gets left out is a bloody hard call. Not sure I know the answer to that!

I'm a fan of Langdon too, but I think our favoured defensive set up is just to have two key tall defenders (Roughead and Moore), one or two medium talls (Crisp and Howe) and two fast small defenders (Maynard and Quaynor).

The modern game is all about speed out of defence, and that is not Langdon's or Scharenberg's strong point. Remember in last year's grannie we didn't really have any defensive talls, but went with Howe and Langdon as our main 'talls'. This year, we should have Roughead and Moore, so Langdon is not as required, especially as Howe and Crisp would be picked ahead of him.

Good to see most people have Langdon out. Too slow, vague and prone to clanger when it counts.

Langdon has missed a hell of a lot of footy this year. After being a linchpin during the finals last year. It's a problem.

Went way too early on picking a finals team, at this stage, it won't be Collingwood!
