Come on Pies officials! Time to make a stand against player discipline:

* Stevo: gambling
* DegOey: drink driving, lying to club re broken hand, mobile use as driving
* Murray: cocaine use on match day
* Beams: we all know his vices
* Adams: drunken exchanges in Geelong nightclubs
* Thomas: 2 year WADA ban
* Sier: PHIL IN basketball sub
* Howe: cricket injury??? Hmmmm
* Keefe: 2 year ASADA ban
* H Shaw: gambling, drink driving

etc. etc... etc...

Not a lot of accountability down at the Holden Centre. I would quietly withdraw the Sier contract and subtly put him up for trade in post season. This crap has to stop!

Yep- it worked amazingly well and helped us win the 2010 flag

The stands taken against Swanny, Jono, Didak, Heater, Maxy and Sharrod were integral in helping us win the flag!

^ Huh? Your list is mixed with those who were and those who were not. (And what was Maxwell supposed to have done prior to 2010?)

Forgot Maxy was 2011

as for the rest of them-
swanny - endless shenanigans
jono- late night piss ons and punch ons
didak- bikie shootings
sharrod- 'drink driving' buddy's car

probably others- point is- these 'loose' individuals played a significant part in winning us a flag.

accept difference and accept people will stuff up

Yeah, but some were punished moderately, some were not, and some were punished way too much (IMO). (One of them was thrown under the bus.)

They weren't treated the same.

Who cares? This is a grab bag of "bad behaviour" incidents that have little in common with each other or, in several cases, with anything relating to on-field performance. I wouldn't be surprised if you could make a similar list from any other club; it's not exactly a little-known fact that young men sometimes do stupid things.

In any case, most players you've listed have been punished for these events by the club, the league and/or the law of the land. So what are you suggesting? Harsher punishments? Why? Is there evidence that the punishments that have been levied have been insufficient? Or do you want them all sacked and replaced by clean-cut citizens of high repute who can't hit a barn door?

Every year we are front and centre of booze, recreational drugs, lying, alternative sport playing breaches, gambling, WADA and ASADA incidents that as an ardent fan, I am simply sick of. The players receive copious amounts of education and as a club we have several "live examples" of players breaching and getting penalised yet we still have current players stuffing up!

Simply poor character! And we have our current footy boss quibbling over the term of our best footballer since Nathan Buckley (Brody Grundy). The same Brody Grundy whom both on and off field is a veritable saint. "Strange days indeed, most peculiar Mumma"!

And you know what? There'll probably be more minor scandals like this over the coming years. The world will keep turning, lessons will be learned and the club's onfield performance will in most cases be unaffected. C'est la vie.

There's more, and a lot worse, going on at other clubs. Our issues just get made public too often because the media and AFL loves to throw us under the bus. The only stand we should be making is against the media (and it's obvious we did with the most recent betting slander, I've never seen Robbo so quick to dismiss a Collingwood rumour!) and against the corrupt AFL.

Unfortunately, the AFL has too much on Eddie, who can be his own worst enemy (as much as I love the bloke).

Really big yawn.

Firing DeGoey (which was the call two years ago) simply for misjudging his blood alcohol the day after a night out would have been a stroke of pure genius. Pretty sure pies fans would be slightly more upset by that act of stupidity than anything the players could do with their minor indiscretions.......

When I read the title of the thread, I thought this was a reference to building a new stand for unavailable players to occupy on game days... goodness knows we'd fill it...
