here's an hourly forecast, not sure how reliable it is though.

https://www.accuweather.com/en/au/melbourne/26216/hourly-weather-forecast/26216

but suggests it's likely to stay slippery for the whole game which would suit our relatiive lack of height. If the game is mostly a ground fight I'd back our team. Ablett potentially becomes a huge factor and how we counter him.

but this one suggests it may not be a factor at all:

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/au/hourly-weather-forecast/victoria/melbourne

These suggest may be a bit slippery but not much:

https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/australia/melbourne/hourly
http://m.weatherzone.com.au/vic/melbourne/melbourne/next48hours

Bit of a coin toss really.

I dunno how is our vs geelong recent form in slippery conditions?

I would think wet would suit our team at a guess.

The last time I recall us playing them in the wet was in round 22 2015 when we beat them by 48 points on a Friday night. Neither side played finals that year.

Before that, I think it was round 16 2012 which we also won, and then the 2011 Grand Final.

While there are rain clouds around so far the gauge at Olympic Park is reading 0 mm since 9am.

My BOM app is giving a 60% chance of showers between 7pm-10pm.

May not end up as wet as first imagined.

Looks like rain until 7pm then showers with a dry break during the game, so wet underfoot but not that wet during the game, MCG has great drainage

I hope it pisses down rain all the way back to Geelong after the game. Wink

yep...scattered showers at best (or is that 'at worst'?); concur re mcg drainage

Just about every time Bunn & Ch7 paint a bleak picture for expectant rain, which rarely - repeat rarely - eventuates

ha ha...yep, I think Chris Scott was taken in by Ch 7's (and perhaps others?) Thu night forecast for Friday night which depicted Melbourne being blanketed in rain from midday and not easing until 11pm or so.
Blind freddy could see by 5pm Friday afternoon that the prediction wasn't going to eventuate.
