And with that, we may just have seen the last of Hodge.
Good night. |

Brisbane's season peaked after their Rd 22 win over Geelong and claiming top spot.
Fair achievement too.
They most likely won't be the last victim of the Tigers this year.
Well done Hodgey...one the best players in this current generation. Can't think of many other 4 x premiership, 2 x Norm Smith players. |

Nah, they're a long way off. Their biggest losses of the season were against Collingwood (10 goals plus) and Richmond on their home ground and they couldn't win on the MCG (indeed, they've lost 8 in a row at the only venue in the country that matters - and have won only 2 of their last 20 matches there). They had a huge leg up with their draw. They had no really meritorious win against decent opposition in form. They can't defend, hence their problems last night - see, as exhibit 1, AMT kicking 7 goals against them. They'll be lucky to make the 8 next year.
As for Hodge, good riddance. |

The darling team of the AFL and it's media.
Over hyped and over achieved.
2 home finals and lost both.
For a team that gets to play Gold Coast twice and that weak fixture, I'm not surprised they went out in the double.
Who did the beat all year? The Cats by a point, GWS by 20 and the eagles in round 1 by 44.
Their magical run of 9 in a row, which happened after losing to Carlton, included magical wins against St Kilda, Melbourne, GWS, Port, North, Hawthorn, Bulldogs, Gold Coast and Geelong. And they got lucky against North and against Geelong.
In all honesty, they are not a top 4 quality team and West Coast should have taken their place in the top 4.
Any way, well done to them for making the top 4. They have some good young players coming through and even though they lost, they'll learn from the experience. But I'll tip them to drop off next year. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

And, best of all, well done to them for choking dismally straight after taking West Coast’s top 4 spot, without which who knows how the season might have ended? |

They really choked. Had that final on toast. Peppered the goals in the last but didn't do any harm. And then the one time the Snipers got it forward they kicked the match winner. A choke job. Pity, because they would have been a much easier proposition than the Snipers who will come out all guns blazing. Even if Toby Greene doesn't play they still have Mummy who is easily one of the most dirty players in the AFL.
Maybe a Collingwood fan with connections should find a way to entice Mummy with a line or two before the game. |
