Mark Taylor's WC XI:
Finch(c), Warner, Smith, Marsh, Maxwell, Stoinis, Carey, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon.
Lyon?? Zampa is clearly out-bowling Lyon in India at the moment.
Hazlewood is an obvious choice, but not necessarily a good one.
Carey is doing okay with the bat, but not with the gloves, in India at the moment. |

Mmm. Carey is something of a dark spot. Not a black hole but needs to be more vocal and enthusiastic. I prefer Wade. _________________ Donny.

Turner?! Might really need Handscomb to keep now. (Oh, he's not in Taylor's XI, though...) |

As things stand, we're looking at the XI from last night, plus 4 more - although, I've left Carey & Lyon out.
This is my squad.
Warner
Finch
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Maxwell
Wade for Carey
D'Arcy Short for Lyon
Cummins
Starc
J Richardson
Stoinis
S Marsh
Turner
Pattinson, depending on him retaining fitness.

Knox:
Australian victory raises a line-up of dilemmas
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/australian-victory-raises-a-line-up-of-dilemmas-20190315-p514ir.html
"There is no question that a fit Smith and Warner will be included in the 15-man World Cup squad, even if their form lines are only visible through Sydney grade cricket and the Indian Premier League. Their career records will demand selection. Warner in particular looks like a man who will keep scoring runs in any game of cricket, anywhere, until he feels his burden is lifted, which might take years. In any case, the kind of audacity to overlook such cricketers is beyond this and probably any selection panel.
...
One factor that will smooth out some difficulties is the new World Cup format. In previous World Cups, teams were grouped in small round-robin pools where they had to win matches early to proceed to the next stage. The 2019 version comprises a 10-team league, with every team playing each other once, before the top four qualify for the semi-finals. Starting with Afghanistan in Bristol on June 1, going right though to South Africa in Manchester on July 6, Australia will have plenty of time to sort through their combinations and find their best team for the semi-finals, should they make it that far. Smith and Warner can expect a full diet of off-field taunts, mockery and hostility, culminating in the match against England at Lord’s on June 25. The length of this ‘league’ period will help dissipate the tension, both internal and external, and by the time of the semi-finals Smith and Warner, whether in the Australian team or out of it, will be acclimatised." |

"Brad Hodge says picking Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell would leave no place for Ashton Turner."
(video on cricinfo)
Hodge's squad: Finch, Warner, Khawaja, Smith, Handscomb, Marsh, Maxwell, Stoinis, Carey, Starc, Cummins, Lyon, Zampa, Richardson, Behrendorff.
Quite a few differences from others' choices! (His Hazlewood omission is injury-based.)
A big question is: How good, really, is Handscomb's keeping?!

Oh, so you weren't punishing him for his fashion statement at the AB night. |

M. Taylor now says:
If Khawaja plays, it has to be in the top three;
Handscomb may be less suited to English conditions than Indian ones;
Warner is "impossible" to leave out. |

He was a great tactical captain, but as a commentator he would literally state the same point three times over, as if he thought the viewers were retarded. |

Spot on, K.
Taylor's 'commentary' was one of the reasons I completely turned off Ch. 9's coverage of any cricket.
Eg. His 'buying' players into the slips. "a third slip has been bought in"
On a par with Paul Roos' "As you just said, Browny ... blah, blah" - as he repeats, just about word for word, what Brown had just said. _________________ Donny.
