Maybe he's just waiting for Levi to leave the club? https://youtu.be/08K3UcfR7RY?t=210 |
I'm positive it's Merrett for just the reasons you say, but either way imo he's 100% leaving Essendon.
Although yes he'd slot right in, he's too inconstant (maybe because he's unhappy..?), we need to aim higher... _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

He’s durable, a beast on the track and solid by foot. He has been tagged out occasionally in the past but he gets zero help in that midfield.
Merrett would fit right in to our midfield and allow Pendlebury, Adams, Sidey and co some much needed breathing space.
You can aim higher but it all comes with a higher ( salary ) cost too. |

Merrett would be a good pick up as long as we don't lose anyone for him.
Hugh McCluggage is out of contract end of this year. A Vic lad and ball magnet would be a great get if possible? |

Remember that Merrett is being discussed as a free agent in this conversation.
McCluggage is a serious jet but that would require a major trade.
Something that Collingwood is working very hard to avoid, I would suggest. |

At the end of last season, many posters were lamenting that we would not be seen as a destination club due to the Treloar/Stephenson fiasco. So what has changed since then to make us a destination club? Sadly I believe that the way Collingwood mishandled that situation will turn off other players. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. To be fair, having only played at one club, he would have have found it hard to win his two best and fairests elsewhere. |

He won't exactly be cheap. You have to pay significant 'overs' to get any quality free agent.
The last thing we need though is another gun player who can't handle a tag. _________________ Side by side. |

If we get Merrett than great but out of those 4 we were talking about before (Merrett, Kelly, Bont or Cripps) he's my least favored option - but - in that, I also think he's the most obtainable. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

Also, he's made it public that he is not willing to sign a new contract. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

North will be big players in the FA market, as will Essendon (Especially if they lose Merrett). I think Bont will stay with the Dogs and I think Cripps would be likely to stay unless a deal out of WA was too good to refuse. Kelly I think is a certainty to leave, as is Merrett.
Do we have enough cap to sign both? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

A lot of horseshit about Adam Treloar.
I love how everyone here ‘knows’ everything about every player & is happy to write them off with a sentence about what he ‘knows’. Apparently we don’t have ‘opinions’ here, just facts.
Now there’s only 4 guys in the game worth having cuz they ‘win games’. REALLY? Fine, let’s have Dusty & Danger run out against Adelaide... which one ya reckon will ‘win the game’?
What? 20 more blokes?
But I thought...
Somehow, you seem to have missed all Treloar’s games. Apparently you saw some bloke who had the ball a lot but kicked it 20 rows back every time. I saw one of the most vital players of our last decade, a great player to watch who saved our asses time & again.
I suggest you watch his games, or watch his highlights reel & take note of times & situations in which he kicked many of his long goals from around the 50, often after receiving it around half back.
The morons who oversaw letting these guys go did not do so because Adam wasn’t winning enough games, they did it so save their own asses after they £$%$ed up a series of contracts. Anyone’s who thinks we’ll be better without those guys doesn’t know a damn thing about the game & even less about how young men function. There will be consequences to this clustercluck, take that to the bank. They’ll likely take the form of keeping us off the podium after the next few Grand Finals.
I said we’d miss out on the flags we were tipped to win after the ‘succession’. I said we’d be out of finals within 2 years of the ‘Saturday Night Massacre’ at the 2013 Copeland. I said we’d finish runners up at the start of 2018. And I’m telling you now that we won’t be winning any for a few years after the Draft Week cock-up of 2020. & I’m just about ready to guarantee there’ll be no flags under Buckley. My guess is that our next chance will be around 2024-5
Just once I’d like our finals chances to depend on the quality of our list, rather than the incompetence of our officials. _________________ "If at first you dont succeed...
