Will Damien Martyn stand up and be counted ??

Today presents Damien Martyn to stand up and be counted as a test cricketer. Hayden has stood up in India. Langer along with Gilchrist played match winning innings in Hobart. Ponting has done the same in South Africa when he scored 100 not out. Steve Waugh normally rises to the big occassion.

Its no big secret that i dont think much of Martyn as a player. But i will be happy to be proven wrong and will enjoy the humble pie

Today we will see what Damian Martyn is made of!!

THis test was always going to tough without Mcgrath or Warne in the side!!! Lets hope both a okay for the World cup otherwise will mite not go so good!!

Damian Martyn has left the building..........i don't think his spot is that safe in the Australian team. He got out to Dawson......lmao lmao lucky Martyn never has to face Shane Warne in a test match.....lol lol

Oh well at least Damien Martyn has been consistent

JLC I think you are being a little harsh on Damien Martyn he is a fantastic batsman but I do agree this was his chance to stand up and he failed and his place isn't safe!

Well he had a few mates in this test and averaged more than Steve Waugh,Nasser Hussain,Marcus Trescothick,Darren Lehmann and Mark Butcher in the series but JLC still put three of them ahead of Marto in his Super Test Team. Interesting.

As for Hussain and Butcher they made their runs against better quality bowling attacks than Martyn had to face during the series.

Steve Waugh had the responsilibilty of being captain and considering the pressure he was under every innings did ok. Steve Waugh is in the twighlight years of his career whereas this is as good as Martyn gets........lol lol

I think Martyn can be thankful that Mark Waugh has left and Steve Waugh will be leaving as otherwise his head would be fair and square on the chopping block.

Lets see how he goes in the West Indies....

I honestly think that Martyn is so technically correct, that he finds it hard to adjust, but given time he will be a great asset to the Australian Team. He is definately not safe though we have alot of talent in the ranks so any player will have to produce the goods....

Even Katich in his limited career has now played an important innings that has guided Australia from defeat.

Damian Martyn has to assume a more senior role in the team with the departure of the Waugh brothers. Its not like Martyn is a spring chicken in his first or second test match.

i think the tour of Sri Lanka and India will be the do or die matches for Martyn.

he's got the best technique but just cannot make runs atm.

Well it seems to have worked for Brad Haddin as well.....im pretty sure he is from Canberra.
