I havent batted but then again im not in the australian team am i. marto is and on current form he doesnt deserve to be, other ppl have been playing better than him eg hussey. he cant bat, cant bowl...what can he do but get out for sh!t scores over and over again? send him back to domestic cricket to sort himself out!!!

ok, my reply to common wombat:

my batting avg is worse than martos (about 10 or something) but then again im not in the australian cricket team, am i, while marto is. you'd expect someone who bats at No4 in the tests and in the ODIs to do better than he has been the whole summer. if they sacked steve waugh from the ODI team why cant they do the same to marto. he needs to sort himself out in ING and Pura cup instead of embarrassing himself in the australian team the way he has been!!!

Why is is such a crime to suggest that an Australian batsman be dropped if they are out of form ?? Is it "unpatriotic" to suggest that a player be dropped ??

Drop him to ING cup and pura cup so that he can rediscover his form and give sum1 else a go. there r a lot of good contenders playing their guts out in ING and Pura cup, they would have to be getting disheartened by not being given the opportunity to play for Australia...marto should be gettng out of his slump in domestic cricket not in international cricket...imagine if he failed in an important game like the VB final or something????

Who's saying it's a crime, JLC ? I've read through this thread and most are of the same opinion.

All I can find is this from tazza2000: "JLC, sounds like you have a personal vendetta against Damian" and he's right.

You've been baying for Martyn's blood since before the World Cup. You wanted him out of the Test team when he was averaging better than 50 and had averaged over 60 since his reintroduction to Tests.

What a joke ? You said it.

It's obvious that batting him up the order didn't help, maybe he needs time playing State cricket, because really, he hasn't shown much with the bat in the ODI's. Martyn is lacking so much confidence, he's forgotten how to score runs, some of the guys around him that were out of form, have gotten themselves out of their slumps. For the next game, I'd rest him, throw in someone else for a hit, the finals are set now, it's time to throw someone else into the mix.

There's only so long you can keep a player in the team that is out of form, and I think that Martyn has finally ran out of time. If they keep Martyn in while he is out of form he will become a liability. I'd give him one more chance opening, against Zimbabwe, if he fails on Thursday, he will have to be dropped.

IF they reckon that martos too good to play state cricket to get out of his form slump wat message does dat send to fellas like hussey, etc who are playing their guts out for no reward. it means dat the oz team isnt selected on form and dat all their current form is being compared to marto's historical form.

i have nothing against marto personally and will be the 1st person 2 cheer him on if he regains form and regains his spot but i reckon ya gotta earn ur spot in the team. besides, pura cup and ing cup will be a better place for him to regain his form then they can stick him back in the team. becoz of him not firing (along with the rest of our middle order) india's batting is heaps better than ours at the moment...

Martyn did what he had to do today and that was score runs, gilly style. Dissapointing he couldn't go on with it after a LBW decison in the pouring rain.

2nd highest amount of runs next to bevan, another cricketer who has also been questioned by several people in this topic

JLC, what is it you do not like about Martyn?
Is it his lack of consistancy?
He dosen't make huge scores?
Folds under pressure?

Or do you just not like him?

All my mates seem to hate him but they don't know why.

i dont hate him or anything, i reckon he's a gr8 player. i just dont think he should b there in the OZ team if hes outa form. he should be playing pura cup or ING cricket. right now hes denying some1 else a spot. hes had enough time to get himself back in form. though he did play well for a bit today b4 throwing his wicket away yet again
