"Interesting vibe at the game, felt like I was at a pub where half of the crowd was there to socialise rather than watch the game. Only real crowd noise was when a goal was scored."

I absolutely hate AFLW games because of this. Apparently this competition is only attended by people who want to catch up with friends!
Totally disrespectful to the professional footballers on the ground. NEVER happens at the men's games! Really reflects how the general public think of women's sports. There is a different vibe at women's games of any sport. Maybe that will change when the AFLW improves on the scoreboard & the ground.
Will be an interesting game today. If they again disappear after half time, will lose again. Need a four quarter performance desperately.

Yep im hearing you maurs64.

Been to quite a few of these aflw games.

Good to have a drink or 2 then go after half time.

I see alot of 20 somethings just go there a few drinks then go.

Not much in the way of atomsphere or vibe either.

Goal and theres some noise.

Apart from that a flat feel.

I would say i would watch for 1st half then its time to go and its like you wil only see more of the same anyway.

Does anyone know the update on Ruby Schedlier shes not listed to play surely its time she played again.

Anyone at VP that has a report there and whats the crowd like.

A 3 quarter performance today. Got a big lead & defended it in the last quarter. So much like the men's final on Thursday!
Didn't score at all in the last. Not sure there was even an inside 50 for us that whole quarter.
Not a large crowd. Mostly Collingwood supporters as expected.
Davey & Bonnici excellent. Even Fredericks scored a goal & she was okay in the ruck.
One sided umpiring as usual, 8-1 against the Pies in the last quarter & overall so many holding the ball frees, almost as bad as the last time Freo played at Vic Park.

Must say Vic park is the olny place that does the AFLW justice.

Vic park with pies there the place is really got a cool laid back atmosphere to it and the players love it.

Only thing is apparently from a few mates that went today said there were next to nothing toilets and like only a few behind rush stand the one that the tv cameras are in.

And that there were bad cues for it.

They should have a few porta loos scattered around the place.

Other then that its a great place for the AFLW and has that nice old history type feel and like a good mix of trendy groovy feel too it.

Kind of like an old nightclub i guess.

On the flip side i find Ikon park too sterile for my liking and not enough feel.

And has a starc feeling to it.

Kind of i guess you would kind of think of like a hospital type feeling.

But i like how Vic park is more open and really easy to move around too.

Good win today Pies and back there again next Sunday v Suns.

Should get back Ruby and Eliza James back.

Seriously??

Are you Hal in disguise or just a faulty AI bot?

EJ will be out for at least a couple of weeks.

Anyone who actually goes to Vic Park knows there are more toilets than under the Rush Stand. No queues at the ones I went to.

EJ definitely out for a couple more weeks. Great that a few other players are stepping up in her absence. Morris-Dalton in particular. What's not great about Victoria Park is the lack of food trucks! Only one food truck today selling a limited variety of food.
Didn't there used to be at least 2 or more trucks previous seasons?

Final score: Pies 7.4.46 defeated Freo 3.7.25

Goals: Morris-Dalton 2, Rowe, Morris, Campbell, Davey, Frederick

Best: Sheridan, Davey, Bonnici, Rowe, Sansonetti

Match review:

https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/news/1029047/magpies-notch-first-win-of-the-year-with-clinical-showing-against-dockers

Good first 3 qtrs by the Pies but they let Freo back into the game in the last quarter. Pies have changed their game style and looking at playing a more running game which takes a toll by the end, players running out of gas. Freo had 10 more inside 50s than the Pies.

Although predominately a forward, Barnett did well in the ruck until injuring her ankle in the 2nd qtr. Not named in the best but Sophie Casey did a great job on her much taller opponent.

And there appears to be a new "Ginnivan" rule where you can be taken head high, no free kick but called for holding the ball.

Next game is at home against Gold Coast.

^maurs, at the VFL & VFLW games I went to this season at Vic Park there were either 2 food trucks or a food truck and a coffee van.

Only used the food trucks a couple of times, usually got something before or after the game at Woolies or the local servo.

Tipping another Pies win at Vic Park by similar margin v the Suns im going ofr say a 18 points win.

Ruby Schediler to make her return from her ankle injury and Eliza James as well.

Imogen Barnett unfortunately baddly twisted her ankle and came off on crutches wish her a speedy recovery.

Collingwood has provided an injury update ahead of Sunday’s Round Three clash against Gold Coast at Victoria Park.

Tall Imogen Barnett suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s win over Fremantle. Scans have since revealed a fracture, with Barnett set to be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks.

Ruby Schleicher and Lauren Butler both still have unclear timelines as they continue to overcome foot injuries. The Club will continue to provide updates as they progress.

Joanna Lin’s foot injury is progressing well, with the midfielder expected to miss one more match before becoming available.

Charlotte Taylor continues to manage a knee injury, with her return four to seven weeks away. The Club is hopeful she will return in the backend of the season.

Forward Eliza James is in the early stages of her recovery after a syndesmosis injury in Round One. James is expected to be unavailable for the next three to five weeks.

Tickets are on sale for Sunday afternoon’s clash between Collingwood and Gold Coast.
