Yeah watched it on my tready again this morning, I reckon he was out, at the very least no way the ump could be convinced it was in.

I still struck by how hard they tried to keep the bears in it..

Fortunately, the incident didn't cost us the game; or it would be consigned to folklore, along with the Rioli block on Bruz gifting the Sheed goal in 2018.

All these however don't come close to the bullshit that was paid to Jeremy cameron in the Geelong game in July; marking over the boundary, receiving handballs over the boundary for shots at goal to keep their rapidly diminshing finals chances alive. Such biased maggot ineptitude had to be seen to be believed.

Today, I randomly watched the last quarter of 2023's Anzac Day.
What an absolutely unreal team this is.
Krueger, Ash, Ruscoe, and Will Kelly all played. Noble was the other who played this day and missed the GF. Frampton with 15 disposals, a goal and 28 hitouts.
Gone for all money, 7 unanswered to win in the final term.

^^

Was happy for these guys to get to play on the big stage in a big game (couple important chains in that last quarter) when they just couldn’t crack the main team for the remainder of the year and then got delisted.

Was a great game.

Possibly as long as McGuane's run back in '94 and that crossed 3 time zones.

Was that on foxtel 504?
I've watched a few Anzac day games they've shown over the last few weeks.

Even the close losses in 1999 and 2001 were top efforts considering the developmental stages those lists were in.

They haven't shown 1996, 1997 or 1998 though; would like to see those again.
Maybe they are on youtube...

I’m commenting on the players who have been interviewed players like Quaynor and Crisp for example.
When asked the question “Are you thinking about back-to-back flags”
Their answer is an emphatic. “We are just getting back to work “

I’m hoping that’s the general feeling—certainly is from Bolts, Leppa and McCrae

The Ch7 commentary of the GF is underwhelming.
I’m not exactly sure why others rate BT because imho he is very very average.
Maybe we were spoilt with having McAvaney and Cometti for so long and didn’t realise how rare their quality really was.

I agree. I really miss McAvaney in particular. He had the ability to light the game up with his astonishing ability to articulate his stream of thought so rapidly and with such intonations of energy and excitement. His knowledge, and ability to instantly create humorous/interesting comments based on that, was legendary.
Cometti as well was brilliant with his humour and the vocal intonations which kept the listener engaged fully.
There are no contemporary commentators who come close to these two legends, unfortunately
Gerard Whately would perhaps be the only possiblity, but even he does not reach the epic grandeur of McAveny and Cometti.

I think McAvaney was at his best in the 1990s, but he still held up well in his later years. Cannot deny his passion and he was brilliant with statistics.

Cometti was an outstanding commentator. A massive loss to the industry once he retired at the end of 2016. He was the gold standard for football commentary over the last 30 years. Before that it would have been our own Lou Richards.

The Ch7 commentary in the 2023 GF was ordinary. Even with a minute left in the game, Hodge and Richardson were too busy moaning about the advantage being called with Zac Bailey rather than focusing on the big picture of what was happening around the ground.

BT and Brayshaw just didn't strike the right tone for me as the game was concluding. They were flat in comparison to what we were used to under McAvaney or Cometti.

However, the radio commentary whether it was the Triple M or SEN commentators did a good job of capturing the significance of us winning the flag and keeping the listener engaged.

Only the Blu-Ray release has the alternative commentaries. The original runs SEN commentary is out of whack and they've since fixed the issue. But you'll nees a bluray player or a playstation to watch it.

It's appalling.
The biggest one sided call in history. Calling for Lion frees, questioning the umpires, but never questioning the umps when Collingwood dont get a decision.
Hodge should be sacked. Richo should get a first and final.
