Fear we may get walloped in this one. Hopefully its not too one way like the last quarter against the bullants and we can put up some resistance. _________________ Premiership Pies made it legendary in 2023, don’t let them forget it. #Go PIES 2024…. |

"Experienced VFL players Ben Crocker and Ned Long will return after both sitting out the last fortnight for this weekend’s Round Eight VFL clash against Werribee.
The pair are part of seven inclusions from last week’s game against the Northern Bullants, with exciting AFL-listed players Tew Jiath and Ed Allan also coming back into the side."

Such an insipid first half by the Pies - no link-up and poor skills. |

Only 8 listed players
1 fwd (Johnson)
1 mid? (Allen)
6 defenders (5 kids, & Dean)
A bit of perspective. |

Oh no we did get walloped and it was a one way contest.
I watched the first half. It was one way from the start. Think we had our second inside 50 about 16mins in. Ash Johnson a good mark late 40m out in front but poor kick. Allen had a good centre clearance in the second. I missed Farrants species but saw the one that he missed.
The big thing for the VFL is the lack of rucks and clearances. We had Liam Purcell and Ben Silvagni as our rucks yesterday. No doubt they’re trying and we should appreciate their efforts but they’re second to the tap, undersized, not as strong in the contest as others. This is seriously impacting our performance. We’re hardly competitive in the middle and the ball is hitting our defence too easily more often than not.
We don’t have many listed players left in the VFL because of all the injuries. The only consolation I can think of is that Ryan, Dean and Jiath are seeing a lot of the contest and getting lots of opportunities to test their skills. Can be tough when it’s coming in too often and too easy with little pressure however.
We desperately need a tall ruck to take the pressure off our defence. That might help our mids to get more amongst it and help to wake up our forwards. _________________ Premiership Pies made it legendary in 2023, don’t let them forget it. #Go PIES 2024…. |
