2004 Luke Shackleton
Nick’s Sponsored Player 2004: Luke Shackleton
Player Profile: by Johnson#26
A burley midfielder, Shackleton hails from Burnie, Tasmania. In his junior days, Shackleton won the Morrish Medal, for the best player in the TAC Cup in 2002.
Shackleton was then drafted by Collingwood at pick 29 in the 2002 National Draft. Shackleton spent 2003 at Williamstown, where he gained experience from players such as Adrian Fletcher and Brad Lloyd. Shackleton was often criticised for his weight, with people saying he was too slow for AFL football.
2004 was a good year for Shackleton, who came very close mid season to making his AFL debut after a hitting a rich vein of form midway through the year.

Thursday the 22nd of July was a momentous night for Nicks Collingwood Bulletin Board. As most of you would know some 20 or so members of NBB decided we would sponsor a player this year, after much discussion on who we should target we settled on Luke Shackleton. A young player from Tasmania who up until this season had only played at Williamstown our VFL affiliate Club. Unfortunately young Luke hasn’t been able to break into the Collingwood team yet in 2004 but we all wish that he will get his chance soon.

Firstly, I must say thankyou to Nicks for giving myself and Mr J, who never behaves, the wonderful opportunity to attend the Sponsors BBQ on Saturday Morning.
We were on table Number 1 of course, as we are the Number 1 Sponsor Group!! Shacks wasn’t there as he had a game to play at Williamstown, so we were dissapointed not to meet him.
