We roll over regularly.
It's not to tank or cultivate results to our favour, we roll over because we are a weak football side.

Tanking for draft picks during the finals...? Shocked

Interesting theory

Let's see if I understand this correctly.

Lose in week 1 - receive draft pick 9
Lose in week 2 - receive draft pick 11
Win the premiership - receive draft pick 16

Yeah, seems legit Rolling Eyes

The breakdown for teams 7-12 is 1-2 teams from each group twice.

Now that Carlton will finish top six, if the AFL want two Pies-Blues blockbusters we will only have to play one other top six team twice (and you can guarantee that we will have to).

Will you never quit helping us out MM? Laughing

Is it official?
Do we finish 7th?
Are we in the 7th-12th part of the fixture?

Well we officially lost in Week 1 of the finals so that means we officially finish either 7th or 8th.

So yes, we are in the 7th-12th part of the fixture for next year

Well that is a game changer for next year - that is a ridiculous advantage for us. Much better finishing 7th than 2nd in 2013.

And a fixture that will clearly only last once for its stupidness.
Hopefully after our list can exploit the bejeesus out of it.

Faith in the coaching staff to maximise on it?
Hmmm

Laughable suggestion.

Gee some people will go to all extremes in pursuit of finding excuses.

Get ya head out ya arse and man up to accept what was blatantly clear on Saturday night.

We are one trick ponies, who's one trick struggles to work when our foot skills are so horribly poor.

Mr Jones - i dont think anyone is ignoring what was blatantly clear - but it was not our foot skills.

It was our coaches box ignorance to take advantage of our on-field strengths, and our side's persistent refusal to take first options in the first half and the entire club's lack of killer instinct in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

the team was left with one effective option for 120 minutes, kick it to Swanny.

WTF

Yeah, I humbly disagree.

You can have all the best structures, game plans and midfield running around, if you cant spot up a 20 meter kick (Sidebottom, often) or go back and have the confidence to kick a goal from 40 meters out (Elliott for example) then it all breaks down pretty quickly.

Also, the decision to have Keefe, Reid AND Cloke inside 50...who's masterstroke was that?

Talk about top hevy. No co-incidence Didak finally comes on and has more impact in his short time on ground that probably 2/3rds of our side on the night.

What did we learn this weekend. Experienced finals players stand up in...you guessed it...finals! Home and away flat track bullies and newbies get found out more often than not.

Sewell, Mitchell, Lake, Judd....enough said.

I think we are basically agreeing here.

You cant have a go at Sidey - ran his ass off and he gets the ball and tries to dispose of it where other 95% of the other mortals would happily leave that to braver souls. He takes the hottest footy because he can and he does.

We are probably taking top 30-40 in the comp player and top 10 most effective in front of goal.

The rest no argument.

Elliott will remember this week and how he handled it (the injury) Im sure.
Shouldnt be left in a 19yo hands.
The fact he got so much of it is a credit to him.

I can not be critical of anyone bar Heath Shaw from Saturday night.
And Port were sensational.

But we were better and lost it in the booth.
If blokes suddenly have in their minds that they don't take first options, that is a coaching issue. An intensity problem. Coach responsibility. Thats what he is freakin paid for.
Of that there is NO DOUBT.

If that is the case (we tanked) then Buckley should be sacked and the club should be fined $500,000. We were pathetic.

At least Tony Shaw has hit Collingwood with a reality check. It is going to be very painful for the next few years.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/pies-years-from-title-now-shaw-20130908-2te6g.html

But what a joke to pick up a draft pick two places up the list. The draft is a lottery anyway.

I'm going with this.

Remember Dane Swan was played up forward as a punishment, and said how happy he was to be back in the midfield after he pretty much spudded it up on purpose. He then owned the midfield... until he's suddenly playing as a permanent forward again in a final.

He then goes on to kick a bag of goals and look like he's actually enjoying himself. Something's not right here.
