Lost the game at the selection table before the game. Take a winning formula and revert to the mistakes of past in Mayne and Blair. This was a make or break game for Mayne and it was break after that deplorable miss in front of goal. Blair tries hard but he's just not tall or good enough. Good effort but hopefully we rebound a build another string of wins together _________________ "Hey Ma get off the dang roof!" |

Yes, my thoughts too, we just ran outa legs, clearly. id love to play these seemingly uninjured pricks later in the season, when we have the likes of Elliott, Moore, Fasolo, Wells, Langdon, Varcoe, Greenwood available. Give the Tigers six or seven out, see how the go too. But, they never seem to get injured. sigh. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

I知 liking what I知 seeing in terms of game style. The running attacking football is so much better that what has been dished up over the last few years. Even though we lost the upside and overall improvement is quite marked. We should win more games than we lose this year. _________________ Living in Geelong, barracking for the 'pies! |

^ and it makes sense to play to your strengths, which for our boys is handball and not kicking. |

Agree with this. Fresher legs and the scoreboard would look different. Not saying we'd win, but we'd get closer.
The absolute highlight of the game for me was Maynard tackling Dusty and winning the free kick!! It is possible to stop him in his tracks, when you have a powerful, aggressive player willing to give it a go. |

Agree, although strangely our kicking to targets seems to have improved this season too. Perhaps because we're using the handball to get us out of the sticky situation and this means the kicking is under less pressure. |

Disgraceful loss. We hoisted the surrender flag to a bunch of gutless Richmond dogs. Selection issues were a big worry! Mayne ? Seriously! Umpires were vile again. But we must learn not to surrender under pressure! The Anzacs never gave up. Learn and do something Magpies. Don稚 think do!!!! _________________ I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for. |

Yes, chain of slick handballs in close and under pressure to get it out in the clear.

I third it, still in it at 3/4 time then lost two players quickly, I知 guessing it was Maynes last chance, send him back to WA. Useless. Blair tried but IMO there are better options in the wings now.
We ran out of legs damn shame but we didn稚 quit
I知 a little sad but geez I知 proud and hopeful for the rest of the season

Bux played it safe by going with two plodders in Mayne and Blair.
And what did we get but two plodding performances.
If you are going to beat the Tigers then you need to throw
caution to the wind zantiand play Faz and Wells.
But Bux is predictable and he goes the safe route.
We are now 2 and 3.
Ordinary start to the year.
Impressed with a lot of the young player group.
We have a decent core there and we must persist.
But please be bold like we have with our quick handballs forward. |
Not only are you wrong on most of that, but you obviously can't count either. We are 3 and 3.
My take from the game was as follows:
1. We fought it out, but ran out of legs before 3/4 time.
2. Despite winning the hitouts easily, we were out muscled and out run at centre clearances. This is the Tigers strength, but a midfield of Pendles, Treloar and Sidey should not be smashed so decisively at clearances. Maybe it's time to bring in Sier?
3. De Goey was disappointing and has to work much, much harder to get into the game.
4. Young Appleby looks a player.
5. Mayne just played his last senior game, ever.
6. We will be a 6 goals better side with the inclusion of Moore, Varcoe, Adams, Elliott, Wells and Fasolo.
7. The final scoreboard flattered the Tigers. When the game was on the line, we matched it with them and we will improve considerably as the year goes on. We will finish 4th or 5th this year.
