Just watching and a lovely Aish tackle on Jones —ball spills to the Hunter aka Sidebottom
They work so well as a team

Anyone else noticed the score after half time? Collingwood 9.0 to Melbourne 4.10. Shocked And 10.1 to 4.12 from the halfway mark of the second quarter. While I think we would have still won, it would have been a much closer game if they’d taken their opportunities...

Quite true: Our style of play allows other teams in and invariably gives the oppostion a look. Buckley made mention of this aspect this morning on SEN that is, we are allowing teams to move the ball too freely from our defence to score too often

My daughter lives near Mansfield, in Goughs Bay. She reckons Mansfield and surrounds are on a code red alert for an infux of Range Rovers and 4 wheel drives, the annual Deeeeees invasion. for Mt Buller snowfields Chalets. Coffee shops are restocked with Lattes an cucumber sandwiches are being rolled out, as are croissants, caviar, and rye bread. Uber and buses ready do ferry the heartbroken Deeees fans to the Chalets, to forget yet another another wasted shit year from the Melbourne football club. Vale the MCC toffs, hard cheese, old chaps. !!

Back in the 80,s the boys from work used to descend on Goughs Bay
at Wally Challans cabins next to general store — with a warm up pre drink drink at the Delatite pub in Mansfield

We won this game via a brilliant back six—-just watched 4th qtr and whilst Dees got drive from centre clearance every time they went forward it came back like a rocket —that fast and with such purpose that we via our wings
Sidey and Phillips put it into a spacious open forward

Laughing Stll there mate, but son in law, lives in Goughs Bay reckons the yacht club, pub/bar is all the go now, big Saturday night BBQs, local beers, its on the lake there, must give it a go soon, highly recommended. OH and the Delatite is a kick arse pub, even has a huge outdoor Chess set in the nice beer garden, meals are great value too. Very Happy

Also, Greenwood has been revelation for us in defence this year.

Of the three Defence. Attack. Rucks/Mids

Defence by far has been our strongest feature this year

From the first quarter I could tell we were on our pressure across the ground was the best it has been for a while.

I concur - my thoughts also. Although many of the media outlets didn't see it that way, reporting that our win was "just enough" and "workman like", and that it was the dees skills and inaccuracy that gave us the game. Very few reports which gave us the credit for piling on the pressure and forcing all those clangers and turnovers. And now there's all this scrutiny on the dees after that performance - truly, it was as though they were favourite and lost the unlosable. In truth it was just the media so disappointed that Collingwood got up that they had to blame the loss solely on the dees. That's ok - let the cats have all the attention leading up to the finals - will suit us fine.

I've seen a few comments that WHE played a blinder or that he played out of his skin. A few short memories of his 2018 perhaps? I'd argue that was just merely an above average game for what we should be expecting out of him week in week out. I rate him every bit as good a forward as Stevo and JDG. Unlike those two, he doesn't waste his chances.

If we're going to win the whole thing this year, we're going to need him back to these levels every week come September.

^ yes, it was the WHE of 2018. Great for him to have a game like that - now he just has to maintain that level (or almost to) every week or 2 (not just once per month)

A few things I loved from Monday's game.
1. WHE - that's who we remember from last year. Marking the ball, kicking goals and getting on the end of the chain.

2. Stevo - we have picked an absolute ripping kid. No second year blues with him. He is a star and will only get better.

3. James Aish / Levi Greenwood. I'd hate to be a small to medium sized forward playing on either of these two. So much aggression and always doing the team thing first. One of the reasons our backline has been so strong this season.
