Will poll Brownlow votes in his 297th you'd think.

3 games to go. Buddy needs 1 game to get to 300, but it seems the Swans are going to wait until next year?

How magical it would be when Scotty P runs out for game 300 on the G against the Cats as we massacre them and move straight into the prelim.
Go Pies

So, Pendles was very close to BOG in his 299th game. For most of the game, he made time stand still, yet again, while others floundered around him. He is just a remarkable player.

Not many play a 300th on a final. Lets hope his teammates lift and win for him.

Wouldn't that be a just reward on the MCG in front of a packed house, the place would go bananas! Shocked

Comparing Pendles and Shawry...

https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/S/Scott_Pendlebury.html
https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/T/Tony_Shaw.html

Disposals not far apart, Pendles 1000 more handballs, Shawry 600 more kicks

Goals and points, similar, Shawry 0.5 goals/game Pendles 0.6, Pendles higher accuracy at, Shawry 50/50 Pendles 60/40.

By far the biggest discrepancy is the tackles in the modern game.

They were not recorded until '86, about half thru TS career, but if we double his total to 550 at an average of 1.91, compare that to Pendles who has nearly 1450 at an average of 4.92...

Shawry's highest record tackling season was... 1990... when he managed 55.

Pendles has recorded triple digit tackling totals each year since 2010 [he doubled from 2009 to 2010 which reflects our gameplan], however he only has 94 this year so far.

In a nutshell compared to the 80s and early 90s, players are running probably 5-7 kms more per game plus laying at least double the tackles.

Pendles is our greatest all-time tackler [officially after 1986], the next closest is Steele with 902, Swanny with 804, Shane O'Bree 759, Blairy 736, Sir Scott Burns 704, Leon & Tooves 619, Bucks 618, Maxy 587 and amazingly Mr B Grundy with 554 from 129 games.

Taylor Adams 4.68, Crispy 4.10, Adam Treloar 4.96, Greenwood 4.36, Cal Brown 3.97, Sier 4.28, Wrecking Ball Wills 6.92.

Lucky for Shawy there is no metres-gained comparison. Tony was a great player but he kicked about half as far as Pendlebury.
