Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri holding out for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United job

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7866379/Former-Juventus-boss-Massimiliano-Allegri-eyes-Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaers-Manchester-United-job.html

"The 52-year-old Italian left Juventus last summer after sealing a fifth consecutive Serie A title and is looking for a fresh challenge.

Sportsmail understands that, since leaving Juve, Allegri has been holding off on an immediate return to management in the hope of eventually taking over at United.

It is believed Arsenal were dissuaded from approaching him last month as they searched for a manager to replace the sacked Unai Emery.
...

Allegri has suitors across Europe and is the sort of high-profile candidate United would look to hire should Solskjaer leave.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also keeping a close watch on developments.

Allegri would likely demand a defined structure at his next club, having previously worked under strong sporting directors."

'Manchester United recorded an emphatic 4-0 win over Norwich City at Old Trafford to go fifth.

Marcus Rashford scored twice on his 200th appearance for United, his second from the penalty spot...

What was noticeable during the match were chants against United's American ownership - the Glazer family - and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward.

"I'm not sure if the players will get it but I noticed," United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.

"As a club we've got to stick together, we've got to be united. We are a family."'

The Sun:

"Manchester United would have to fork out just £5million to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it can be revealed.
...

It is understood the Glazers family are happy to be patient and supportive with youngsters coming through.
...

Compensation for Jose Mourinho, Loius Van Gaal and David Moyes totalled £40m, upsetting the board.

That included nearly £20m for the Spurs chief, £8.5m for the Dutchman, and £5m for the new West Ham manager."

[Sacking him actually sounds quite cheap (not unexpectedly) to me.]

"Bruno Fernandes capped a fine individual performance with two goals and Mason Greenwood added another as Manchester United won 3-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Tuesday to stay in the hunt for a top-four finish.

Having stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to 15 games, United climbed back into fifth place on 52 points from 32 games, two behind fourth-placed Chelsea who have a game in hand and ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers on goal difference.

The result and the performance pleased manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who praised his team after United celebrated their first league win at Brighton since 1982.

"It's a joy to watch them when you see them express themselves like that," the Norwegian told the BBC.
...

"The third goal was a great team goal. To see so many players sprinting forward to get on the end of it was fantastic. A great finish by Bruno Fernandes.""

Harry Maguire: I feared for my life during arrest in Greece

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53941208

"On Tuesday, Maguire was given a suspended sentence of 21 months and 10 days in prison after his trial on the Greek island of Syros.

He was found guilty of repeated bodily harm, attempted bribery, violence against public employees and insult after arrest on Mykonos.

On Wednesday, his legal team lodged an appeal against the verdict. In accordance with Greek law, the appeal nullifies Maguire's conviction and there will be a full retrial in a more senior court."
