https://womens.afl/news/66641/the-run-home-finals-race-going-down-to-the-wire

Basically, we need to beat the Saints and the Crows, and we'll be needing the Demons and the Kangaroos to do us a favour in the last 2 weeks. (They both play the Lions and Dockers).

Quote:
3. Collingwood
24 points (six wins, one losses), 195.6 per cent.

Despite a late charge, Collingwood tasted defeat for the first time in 2021, losing to Brisbane in a hastily arranged game at VU Whitten Oval. It brings the Pies back into the pack somewhat, but they still should feature in finals. St Kilda should be a comfortable victory, but Adelaide at Norwood Oval will dictate finishing positions within the top six.

The run home
R8: St Kilda @ Victoria Park
R9: Adelaide @ Norwood Oval

What a season this is turning out to be. And only Collingwood could be undefeated with 3 rounds to go and end up outside the top 2.

Just looking at the ladder and remaining fixture, we'll go into finals without having played teams currently placed; 13th, 12th, 9th and 1st. (Thats two of the bottom three).

Freo, now 1st, and the favourite to win the whole thing have played 2nd and 4th, and they will play 5th and 6th. But is it true they have played the WCE (12th) twice and the Suns (13th and winless)? That's given them that huge % boost, which will gift them home gound throughout the finals should they beat Melbourne and/or North.

In such an even ladder, I can see anyone from North, Adelaide, Brisbane, Freo and Collingwood winning it. Home finals will be an advantage. Finishing top 2, and avoiding elimination finals would be great.

The game against the Saints and Crows is massive. The loss to the Lions could be very costly. Beating the Saints should be enough to secure a finals birth.

Fremantle run home:
R8: Melbourne @ Fremantle Oval
R9: North Melbourne @ Arden Street Oval

Brisbane run home:
R8: North Melbourne @ the Gabba
R9: Melbourne @ Casey Fields

Collingwood run home:
R8: St Kilda @ Victoria Park
R9: Adelaide @ Norwood Oval

Adelaide run home:
R8: Western Bulldogs @ Norwood Oval
R9: Collingwood @ Norwood Oval

North Melb run home:
R8: Brisbane @ the Gabba
R9: Fremantle @ Arden Street Oval

Melbourne run home:
R8: Fremantle @ Fremantle Oval
R9: Brisbane @ Casey Fields

It's gonna be a close finish. But I'd like to see the ladder if we'd been able to play the Suns and Eagles. And even GWS.

Heres the ladder: https://womens.afl/ladder/2021

Pies gave themselves the best chance by winning all games up until yesterday.
Would have been good to play some of the lower teams as Freo have done.

Game against the Lions was always going to be tough but you need to play the best teams coming into finals. At least it was close and didn’t damage percentage too much.

North almost managed to do us a favour, but the Demons are currently doing us one against Freo.

If the Dees hold on, we go back into the top 2. Then we'll control our own fate (Beat the Crows and we're in the Prelim).

So cmon Dees, hold on.

Gee Whizz!

The Dockers made a comeback. They got in front by a point. But Demons do us a massive favour and hold on to win by 5 points.

We're back to 2nd on the ladder.

Beat Adelaide and we're into the PF with a week off.

4th: Adelaide

5th North Melb

6th Melbourne
R9: Brisbane @ Casey Fields

Some big games there to end the season. What we need: 1. Collingwood beat Adelaide. And 2. The Dees do us another favour and beat the Lions. That'd put us first with a home PF and GF if we make it.

We can finish anywhere from 1st to 4th. But no lower.

Got sportsbet collingwood are third favourite behine freo brisbane and crows to win the flag i dont understand even though they are a good team that freo are top favourite.

I feel freos lose yesterday helped us heaps but we need to win on the road v crows to make sure of a home prelim.

I think the pies can win it by 9 points.

Pies have a healthy % too which will help and both freo and brisbane are playing away in melbourne too.

So close to beating the Lions a couple weeks back. That win would have made all the difference.

Ah well. Still a chance.
